Hi all,
here an update on short loans - I also asked the german FOLIO team to give some input.
So this is my short version:
Short loans are items which can be borrowed for a small time periode (e.g. weekends, overnight, ...)
Typical short loan items:
items that have been classed as short loan as they are popular items in very high demand and cannot be renewed
or normally in the reference collection / non-lending collection / confined materials
often special rules: e.g. short loans will automatically issue for 3 days to students with a Disability Support Plan or that it is only possible for a defined usergroup (e.g. for current staff and students from the University)
special reminder procedure: if an item marked as overnight shortloan is not back until 10am there is a special fine
Should service points be fee/fine owners?
No. fees/fines are associated with item shelving locations not transaction locations. Temporary locations such as reserve may be the owners of fines accrued while the item is assigned the temporary location. The temporary locations may be credited with the fine even if it is paid after the item is returned to its permanent location.
Is filtering by service point required? Yes, but just for reporting. Examples are loans, check ins, staff permissions.
Should institutions that do not load any circ apps have access to crud service points.?
Yes, may be used for transit, booking, etc. and won't hurt.
How should an indefinite loan period be stored?
No one may now be using this. A null date might cause problems. Could store an arbitrary date in the far future and display as indefinite.

Emma presented open and closed loan screen mockups
Open loans - a few changes were made for consistency with other screens. The date loaned was added to the screen.
Group comments - The action buttons and headers need to remain visible when scrolling. The screen should scroll through all loans even if there are hundreds. The sort should sort all the loans no matter how many.
Closed loans - it will be possible to export loan details (but not full transaction action log) in the csv format. This format can be opened in a spreadsheet.
There is a function to anonymize closed loans for individual patrons in addition to batch anonymizing. This will exclude loans associated with fees/fines.
Setting screen for keeping loan history - never or after a certain time. May add an option to have settings by location, for example, don't anonymize if rare book. No one may need this for v1.

Revised a few lines to indicate loan or request block rather than block on all patron transactions.
Need to add loan rule type block by material type.
Need to clarify 'short loans'. These are significant for UK reserves.
ALMA has a patron group limits table. Holly will post.
The group should review the advanced searching mockups, but this is not a priority.
