Updates from Various Reporting Related Groups and Efforts

Various

The Reporting SIG is using small work groups to address priorities and complete our work. Each week, we will provide updates to the Reporting SIG from these various reporting-related groups and efforts:

  • Community and coordination

    • getting ready for Wolfcon

  • LDP Report Working Group

  • LDP Data Privacy Working Group

    • working on presentation for Product Council

  • LDP SysOps Working Group

    • new version of LDP software, 0.3.x, to be made available within the next few weeks

    • LDP beta version to be delivered January 2020,  version 1.0 in June 2020

  • Software development

    • most FOLIO module interfaces (about 90 tables) are loaded into the LDP; the loader is inferring the schema automatically now; LDP does not yet include ERM and MARC, but that is next; we can extract MARC, but we have not proposed a data model

    • schema documentation updated with all these tables

    • still working on way to get ERM data

  • Others?

    • ERM Statistics report

    • Martina Tumulla and Martina Schildt, the conveners of the ERM subgroup, are willing to answer Questions About the ERM Statistics.

January 2020 Wolfcon Reminder

All

Reminder: Another WolfCon is scheduled for January 2020

  • Reporting SIG sessions and topics will be included (we will go over more planning details in a future Reporting SIG meeting)

  • Conference dates are January 22-24, 2019

  • There will be six rooms for FOLIO

  • Location is Texas A&M University, Hotel & Conference Center, College Station, Texas

Metadata Management Report Clusters

Tod, Christie, Vandana, Laura

Laura Wright, Metadata Management SIG convener, joins Tod Olson and Christie Thomas from University of Chicago to discuss MARC data and Metadata Management with regard to reporting:

  • discuss strategies for bringing MARC data into the Library Data Platform

  • review Metadata Management queries

  • MM queries are too broad at this point, and more detail is needed

  • Christie and Laura working on the Metadata Management clusters

  • need to focus on the best templates to develop because much of this will be ad hoc reporting

  • Nassib says documenting requirements for these reports will be important to help him develop the data models

  • Laura indicates MM to have specific samples of reports at first, then become more generalizable

  • good approach to convey the problem and the answer clearly in the documentation

  • include the false positives to avoid

  • would be good to run MM prototypes by the Reporting SIG

  • develop a "MARC in LDP" requirements list

Next Steps for prototype development

  • need to determine how to model the MARC data in the LDP
