Updates from Various Reporting Related Groups and EffortsVarious

The Reporting SIG is using small work groups to address priorities and complete our work. Each week, we will provide updates to the Reporting SIG from these various reporting-related groups and efforts:

  • Community and coordination
    • Still looking for more folks to help with report prototyping and query writing. Let Sharon know if you would like to join the Reporting Working Group to help with these efforts
  • LDP Report Working Group
  • LDP Data Privacy Working Group
  • LDP SysOps Working Group
  • Software development
  • Others?
Reviewing reports with personal dataData Privacy Group

The Data Privacy Group will discuss several reports with personal data that have notes in the JIRA tickets indicating follow-up.

Notes:

  • Group is grappling with questions of personal data in the LDP. If certain reports are not pulled into in-app reports, having personal data in the LDP is the only way to produce certain reports
  • Ingolf discusses "RA Reports to Review" Google Doc.
  • Next step will be to speak with User Management about moving these reports in-app
  • May need to consider that GDPR will affect more than European institutions (US institutions will have European affiliations)
  • Nassib: Two options–Anonymize personal data in the LDP or allow personal data and implement GDPR-compliant functionality
    • Short-term approach: simply keep personal data out of the LDP, until development resources exist to produce GDPR functionality
  • Sharon: We do not want to move reports in-app simply because they contain personal data. We must also consider whether or not it makes sense for the report to be in-app, from a functional perspective.
    • Data Privacy should revisit the list of reports with this approach in mind
  • Data Privacy Group will set up a meeting with User Management to discuss in-app reports and personal data.
Metadata Management Report Cluster ReviewVandana

Vandana will walk us through her analysis of Metadata Management reports to create clusters.
