Reporting SIG interest in WolfCon?

Sharon

From PC Exec....

There will not be a full-fledged WOLF Con this year and originally plans were for a developers-only F2F in May. However, there has been strong feeling that there should be a chance for SIG members to meet, also. We are surveying SIG conveners – does your SIG need/want a F2F meeting? Please fill out the spreadsheet below. Some of you may be surprised to find that somebody has already given reasons for your group to come. J

Please keep these issues in mind:

Institutions will bear the full cost of sending their people – there might even be a slight meeting charge

We are currently looking at two site options and I believe both have limits, so we can’t accommodate 200+ as we did last year

Your SIG should have concrete goals for the meeting

----

Ideas:

  • Getting more concrete on reporting prototype: training, info share, building.

  • Valuable to get real hands-on experience - training.

  • Meet with Resource Access/Metadata Management app-interaction group.

In App Reporting

Holly/Emma/Filip Jakobsen

Filip joins this week's Reporting SIG meeting to provide an overview of his vision for in-app reporting in FOLIO.

First, Holly will quickly review the current "types" of in-app reports we have:

Next Emma will show the Overdue Loans in-app report she has been working on with the RA SIG.  This report actually goes beyond the original basic definition of an in-app report.

Filip will then present his long-term vision of in-app reporting.  How does this differ from what we are doing now?  What additional functionality will users have?  Will this meet our real time data needs?

----

(Filip not online, Emma and Holly with do their parts now)

In-App vs. Data Warehouse Reports - @Holly Mistlebauer.

  • The distinction documented here is under review and may well change with Filip's input.

  • A number of reports have been taken on as in-app, these have been what you might call "static reports", like patrons that owe over N amount of fines, which everyone will want.

  • Have also been talking about exports to CSV, which are similar data to static reports but can be sent to a spreadsheet.

  • First person to implement an in-app report is @Emma Boettcher, who is doing this in loans for the RA SIG.

  • Trying to show what we're doing now, what Filip has in might is looking more to the future.

  • Looking for feedback from RPT to see if we're going in the right direction.

Overdue loans in-app report - @Emma Boettcher

  • List of overdue loans for multiple users

  • Want to display in UI and be able to download as spreadsheet

  • Want to run from within the UI, need a consistent location.

  • Occasionally want to run different versions of this report at different places in the institution

    • would like to have simple run-time options

Questions/Discussion

  • How will this evolve? In other areas, have started with fixed behavior, then add options later.

  • What is the model for export to CSV? This looks different from user's open loans?

    • This is different because it includes open and closed loans.

Next Steps - Find a time when Filip can attend and reschedule rest of presentation.
