Discussion about item status and deletions and what statuses we are concerned about being able to be deleted

(Note that there are already checks for an item on loan, but it depends on the status when the item is loaded in Inventory, so you can get broken behavior if you load an item, check it out, and then delete it in Inventory without refreshing the page)

Brief scenario question - UIIN-2009 - Getting issue details... STATUS

Meeting Notes

Discussion about item status and deletions and what statuses we are concerned about being deleted:
 - There are checks for an item on loan but depends on when the item is loaded in Inventory, so you can get broken behavior if you load an item, check it out and then delete it in Inventory without refreshing the page.
 - Current item statuses implemented: See google sheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ws3P76LimI6MsYBp_f-Un4Ghzz_k_B0lXYCKi8Em8AI/edit?usp=sharing
 - Item Status Name, Inventory Deletion OK/OK with Warning/Not Allowed, Data Import/Bulk Edit (not yet implemented)
 - Will not be able to delete items with dependencies (status associated with open loan or open requests); Or at least be warned before deleting the item.
 - Item statuses that we would allow delete: Available, Lost and Paid, Long Missing, Withdrawn, Order Closed
 - Do we ever want to delete an item without warning? No, not really.
 - Item statuses that we would not allow delete: Paged, Claimed Returned, Awaiting Delivery, Awaiting Pickup, Checked Out, In Transit
 - What about items in transit? What if something has been in transit for many months (i.e., lost)? Would we change status to Missing and then delete it? Should this action be permission-based? Cannot delete in transit if there is an open request. Same discussion regarding Paged.
 - On Order? Refer to Resource Management, but should not be deleted if an open request on ordered item.
 - Should we allow with warning for those statuses that we're not sure about allow/not allow?
 - Available: Allow but not if open loans, open requests, or overdue fines

Data Import/Bulk Edit - deleting records in bulk (NOT changing item status in bulk) - see Google doc

What about Title Level requests? TLR pertains to Allowed, Not Allowed. If there is another item record tied to that Instance record, can it be deleted (if there are no open requests)? Topic for future discussion. :)

Concerns about dependency checks and work flows? Bulk edit to change status (i.e., Missing to Available); not having to check in an item to change its status.

Consensus about dependency checks for Allowed!

UIIN-2009 (https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIIN-2009)- Item with status Lost and Paid, have action Mark as missing associated
Use Cases? Or is this a Bug?
 - Lost and Paid => Missing

NEXT STEPS: Basic framework for Allowed/Not Allowed; Questions about dependencies; Questions about TLR; Comments on Sheet or in Slack welcome
