Meeting Notes
Future Fees/Fines: Add option to get Actual Cost for lost item from order
- Not scheduled for the next release cycles
- Concerns:
- Erin Nettifee: helpful to visualise this
Chat Erin Weller: Has there been discussion about setting the price at a minimum amount that each library can select instead of order price? - If the cost goes over minimum amount (as a set cost) then the actual cost should be charged
Chat Thomas Trutt: that is my thought.. Its what our past LMS worked and it was nice.
- It should be an optional feature
Chat Amber Miles: At TAMU we do bill actual cost but automatically billing is not something we do currently.
Chat Amber Miles: Nor have we ever done I think.
Chat Rebecca Pernell: Future -- FOLIO finds current replacement costs from vendors!
Chat Laszlo Jakusovszky: I know Stanford's Science/Eng Libraries are interested in this due to the high price of their texts, esp. as after they go out of print.
Chat Andy Horbal: for the same reason.
- Workflow:
- Feedback on the Workflow:
- If the default price is AMOUNT it should be charged automatically
- if under AMOUNT charge AMOUNT if over than bring it to staff attention and/or charge SET AMOUNT automatically
- if over the maximum amount charge the maximum amount
- Add setting that if order cost if over X, don't bill it automatically
- if you have an actual replacement cost – and the amount is charged when is the notice send?
- Brooks: If you charge a processing fee now, it sends immediately.
And my understanding of the planned work was that it would send the actual cost fine action notice once it was processed
- Staff workflows would sometimes get delayed so an automatical process has to keep this in mind
Brooks in Chat: I would definitely consider doing a final warning type notice in that case - Similar to how Chicago is currently doing theirs
- Next steps: get Kimie Kester involved
- Feedback on the Workflow:
Patron notices (julie.bickle)
- set cost and lost item processing fee are now charged when processed
- The Lost item processing fee will not be influenced by UXPROD-2245
- it is triggered by the item status
- the triggering event for UXPROD-2245 (see also: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIU-1863) - Bill actual cost in the fee/fine screen
- by confirming this action a notice to the patron
- Cheryl: can we bill 0 and should we?
- A notify patron option would be preferable
