Jira filed as a result of due date truncation discussion: UICHKOUT-797 - Getting issue details... STATUS

Meeting Notes

Erin - Discussion about Michigan State's go-live experience. They are having an issue in Checkout with session timeout: in the middle of a transaction, session will end. It was suggested this was a brower issue but they could not resolve it. Other sites have experienced this issue too.

Another suggestion - increase automatic session timeout.

Thomas shared a Jira submitted on this issue: "While checking out items the patron barcode disappears without inactivity", https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UICHKOUT-730

Julie - Discussion about notices sent to proxies not working correctly. There is a configuration in the User record in the Proxy/Sponsor block called "Notices sent to". The choice is either proxy or sponsor. David suggested there should be an option to choose both. Also, Jana suggests a secure form or contract in the discovery layer would be nice.

Julie - Discussion about "Configure 'from' and 'reply-to' address for patron notices by location or other criteria", https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-2156 and "Location settings should include contact info (email, phone, address) for use as tokens notices and slips", https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-1007

Getting the ability to specify a from address, and a reply to address just hardcoded into the templates themselves would be a win for a lot of people at this point because it would at least give some mechanism for controlling that. Do you need the same email address for all notices? Does the institution/location refer to: Where the item is checked out? Where the item lives (i.e. temporary/permanent location)? What about notices that are not linked to loans (e.g. manual fee/fines)? Does institution/location refer to a specific level in the FOLIO organizational hierarchy (shelf location > library > campus > institution)? Because each implementer/institution has different set-up configurations, the most flexible may be to "just" add a from and reply-to field in the notice templates (if possible).

Molly - Discussion about checkouts and renewals when a patron is due to expire. Do we need a more obvious visual indicator that the loan date was truncated? While informative, pop-ups can be intrusive. What about including the truncation in the "loan policy" section of the loan information? Others suggested a visual indicator like an icon or exclamation point next to the user expiration (or due date).
