PC Questions: 2022-10-10 Resource Access Meeting Notes

25 MinUser Notification

Notify user when item(s) are aged to lost (automated f/f) with ACTUAL COST

  • You can manually select, whether to send a notice or not; I would still have this notice as an "automated" f/f  notice, rather than "manual"; is that reasonable?
  • Should this option to choose ONLY appear when actual cost billed = 0.00; or should it always appear?

Meeting Notes

Jana. Questions from the Product Council to RA-SIG (https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/display/RA/2022-10-10+Resource+Access+Meeting+Notes). Jana led the group on a continuation of the discussion from last Monday's meeting about the PC questions to the SIG to help fill in the gaps in our answers.

What are some of the challenges facing our SIG? We need to emphasize more that we are lacking an overall PO and missing POs for subgroups. Resources are not sufficiently allocated for development of RA-SIG priorities to progress. Also, we face the challenge of older specifications getting "stale". Some of the older features issues or issues are not talked about in a long time, and may have to talk to be rewritten. Also, we need better coordination with other SIGs to know when their work intersects with ours and for us to be mindful of when our work intersects with them.  We need a better understanding how things are being prioritized in the project. How do we get our priorities advanced. The discussion pivoted towards news of LOC joining the project. Will EBSCO share LOC plan and priorities? Will LOC contribute development directly to the project or fork a seperate branch similar to the China initiative. The sense we have so far is LOC will want to contribute directly but they will have some distinct priorities and we would like the opportunity to weigh in on those.

Julie. A screenshot journey of actual cost noticies (https://wiki.folio.org/download/attachments/96411746/FOLIO_AC%20notice%20presentation%20to%20RASIG.pptm?version=1&modificationDate=1666022551000&api=v2). Julie led us through a screenshot journel of actual cost notices since a demo is not yet available. The goal for actual cost is to have same functionality as for set cost, for consistency. Can we piggyback the existing triggers "Lost item fee(s) charged" + "Lost item returned - fee(s) adjusted"? Yes! What about the workflow where the bill is 0.00? Do I want to send a notice. Perhaps there should be an option, send or do not send. Also, you may want to have the option of both entering a staff note as to why you're not billing, and potentially add a note to the patron as to why you're not billing.
