Product Council Update

  • Changes in Index Data Resources: see minutes from 9/20/2018

  • New quality control process: see minutes from 9/27/2018

 @Kristin Martin

 Changes to Index Data involvement

  • Recent announcement that EBSCO will be cutting back Index Data's time on the project

  • Some developers will be rolling off, but core individuals will be staying on

  • New developers from the EPAM team will do short term work on some apps

  • There was concern expressed at the Product Council meeting because people trust Index Data and worry about the disruption of a transition

  • People should talk to leadership or PC reps at their institution if they have additional questions concerns about this change.

Quality control process

  • FOLIO is implementing a new QC process to identify and correct bugs in the software

  • Anton Emelianov will be the lead

  • There is a new QC dashboard that will be internal for now

  • The PC feels positive about this work – it's good to get an early start addressing any issues.

    • New Development Teams

    • Backlog reorg

      • Epics

      • Features

    • Prioritization Updates

  • Finance UAT Update

@Dennis Bridges, @Ann-Marie Breaux (Deactivated)

Finance UAT (user acceptance testing)

  • The UAT will start Monday, Oct. 1.

  • The call for participants has gone out and more details will be sent to volunteers this afternoon.

  • The UAT will focus on creating ledgers, funds, budgets, and fiscal years.

  • Some features, like tags, are still being stabilized and issues resolved.

Acquisitions

  • A few new development teams are joining Stacks to speed things up

  • The main one will be the Thunderjet team, with help from Folijet and FSC

  • To facilitate this, some changes are being made in JIRA that will help distribute work

  • The acquisitions teams recently completed an integration between FOLIO acquisitions and GOBI.

  • Once this is finalized, Dennis will work with RM SIG members from Harrassowitz and WT Cox to see if they also want to do an integration.

  • Acquisitions is really focusing on orders right now and hope to do a UAT soon.

ERM:

@Martina Tumulla, @Martina Schildt

Martina Schildt presented a data flow diagram representing the proposed FOLIO environment for the German library networks. The major systems covered included:

  • Link to model: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/104-5B8Ip2cyxPIdcMCqy1OYu0XtCaoy-Te57w-5UykI/present?token=AC4w5VjvQMqnUBXm5FMvELXzKOuDzDPJOQ%3A1537863383507&includes_info_params=1#slide=id.p1

  • FOLIO

    • They will use ERM, Inventory, and Acquisitions

    • ERM will support local package management, licenses and holdings, package metadata, and related titles

  • GOKb

    • Data from GOKb will be downloaded into FOLIO ERM

    • Data will include package metadata and contents

    • GOKb will be the site of global and consortial package management

  • Union catalog

    • FOLIO will push package metadata, holdings, coverage statements, and identifiers to the union catalog

    • The union catalog is the site of full bibliographic metadata and cooperative cataloging

  • ILS

    • The legacy ILS will be used for acquisitions, invoices, etc.

    • FOLIO will send regular updates to here

  • Discovery

    • The discovery system will ingest bib records from the union catalog, plus license and holdings information from FOLIO ERM

  • ZDB

    • A cooperative journals database that contains titles and packages

    • Data from ZDB will be pushed to GOKb

The ERM group would like others to share their own data flow models

  • The goal will be to help gather requirements for integrations with other systems, including commercial KBs and discovery tools

  • Martina and Martina will be available to help and people can use the German model as a starting point

  • They would like models submitted by Oct. 10, with the aim of discussing them at the Oct. 17 ERM meeting
