The CDL subgroup of the RA SIG is meeting Thursdays (biweekly) at 11 AM EST.
The group formed out of the necessity to disuss the circulation part of CDL in FOLIO by Ian Ibbotson and the RA SIG. For further discussion on dataflows and requirments we are in need of MM specialists to discuss the workflows regarding the inventory and other topics.

WOLFcon session - Build and support record deletion in FOLIO (9/2 at 11:30 am CET)

(info) Marking records for deletion is not only a manual process, it can be triggered by automated processes as well.

  • When a record is marked for deletion, is the record suppressed from discovery and staff suppressed? → Yes, that is the desired solution.
  • We need the abilities to report on records marked for deletion, e.g. to provide a list for external partners like OCLS, Hathi Trust holdings etc.
  • An instance can be marked as deleted by an option in the action menu. – agreed on by the SIG having it as action in the menu.
  • Once an instance is marked for deletion, it is possible to unmark
  • Records marked for deletion are invisible for users without the appropriate permission
  • Should there be one permission to "mark"/"unmark" or should there be two separate permissions? → If we want separate permissions, we have to come up with a use case in order to justify the development effort.
    • HOMEWORK for August 4th: If you have a use case for two separate permissions, please indicate in this minutes, via Slack or contact Charlotte.
  • User expectations, when searching for a record that has been marked for deletion:
    • a) get 0 results
    • b) get a hint like "The record you were searching for has been deleted"
    • side note: the question also relates to the not-working filter "staff suppress"
  • Should records marked for deletion be found by a report via the action menu or via a new filter?
    • postponed to Aug 11 meeting!
