Discussion items
Product Council Update | The conveners gave updates on the different SIGs. Dracine recommended reading the minutes. There is a tentative WolfCon schedule. Please respond to shuttle emails to state times when shuttles will be needed from Houston and Austin airports.
Subgroup Updates and Other Updates | No subgroup updates, however several members are participating in bug-fest and reported that things are going well. ERM subgroup: Sara said the group is alternating on emphasis/focus between implementers and their implementation plans and a developer's meeting, lead by the PO. This has been a successful model and has been helpful. Sara thought this model may work for the MM SIG group. MM group is interested in possibly adopting this model.
Call number sort | Christie Thomas | view behavior of sample call numbers with UChicago parsing/sorting. Christie loaded two examples of call number ranges into their OLE - one from Mount Holyoke and the other from Lehigh. Cutter Schema from Mount Holyoke: Prefix included in regular search? Does OLE use prefix for browsing sort order? Sara - Call number searches do not typically include prefixes in their system. They are not used to that behavior. Charlotte - this is what they are working on. They are planning so far in using prefixes. UIIN-857 - Sorting behavior in FOLIO (Charlotte will add link and other related info here) Dewey example from Lehigh: Dewey sort is not correctly in this example. From "Marmot" via chat - "Public libraries will need a working Dewey sort." Michelle: "Smith’s rare books collection has a legacy dewey section" https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FMl-_oNR6k-wVDQrZeMT_V9-ZDDaZBzdiipx0OQii9E/edit |

Future meeting topics | External integrations (e.g., Caiasoft for off-site storage management) and updates to FOLIO. Where/what is the "source of truth"? --possibly to be addressed at WOLFCon Filip Jakobsen suggests to use Message banner (a new component) to display if an instance record is marked as: Suppressed from discovery, Staff suppress, or Previous held, or holdings/item is marked Suppressed for discovery. This use is intended as a MVP solution: https://ux.folio.org/docs/guidelines/components/message-banner/ Post-MVP we aim for ux consitency with MARCcat. - STCOM-592Getting issue details... STATUS Source of truth (SRS). Review the FOLIO metadata flow based on test of the newly implementation of edit freeze of records in Inventory when having only SRS and Inventory installed. Inventory, MARCcat, Data Import Permissions interaction review Search enhancements - possible also look at more general requirements for defining search, e.g. when to use: Phrase search, Truncating (left and/or right), Stemming, Nested search, Boolean search, etc. (TC and MM task) Authority Data and Inventory Vision (small group work first) Discovery – need to clarify sources of data for discovery vs. data needed for operations; this needs to be documented for the entire FOLIO community and direction should come from Product Council Item record statuses and the apps that affect them Music / Maps / Media cataloging review of data elements in Inventory - UIIN-864Getting issue details... STATUS Texas A&M may have a music cataloger that can help. Christie offered to load cartographic and music data from other libraries into their test FOLIO instance. Jennifer (via chat): We should also look at video as well. Videos have other standard numbers EAN for instance and fields that people like to search and discovery them by https://wiki.folio.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=78336464 |
