PC update | 2023-08-10 Product Council Meeting notes Announcements: Stanford (who will go live in 2 weeks, and have now done an extensively test on check out times (times vary from 2 - 23 seconds per item). SIG updates - see the written up status in the document here. One tip to mention! The Reporting SIG has for now some time worked on a Cookbook for queries. We have our tips and trick page with examples on query searches on the Tips and trick page on the FOLIO wiki. But maybe we could gather many more in a MM Cookbook for Query searches. WOLFcon topics: The schedule is now more or less in a final state re. date and time for the sessions. The room planning can still be subject for changes, depending on number of attendees who sign up for the sessions. Agenda for the PC's shoulder meeting on Friday 8/25 - room reserved from 9 am - 12 pm. The will be a Tri-Council meeting from 1-3 pm. The PC members have all been asked to bring important WOLFcon topics/discussion items raised during the WOLFcon days. No regular PC next meeting. | |

We will record this afternoon's lab
17:39:41 From Charlotte Whitt To Everyone:
Awesome. I think the Implementers SIG would like to be able to watch this recording.
17:39:48 From Laura (she/they) To Everyone:
big thanks to Jennifer E. (and others) for running that DI lab
17:40:18 From Charlotte Whitt To Everyone:
Also several of Index Data’s FOLIO customers have had this high on their wish list
17:44:32 From Laura (she/they) To Everyone:
A Query search (CQL) cookbook would be very useful
17:44:33 From scolglaz To Everyone:
I would love that! a Cookbook for Query Search!
17:45:11 From Felix Hemme To Everyone:
Where is the reporting cookbook Living?
17:45:47 From Ann-Marie Breaux To Everyone:
Would it make sense to include in Tips and Tricks? Or if stored someplace at Stanford, at least a link to it in Tips & Tricks?
17:45:55 From scolglaz To Everyone:
The Cookbook could also include how to get at the ingredients you need for your recipe--as how/where to find the codes

When you Hide a field that is prepopulated, will it still be in the record?
18:00:49 From Felix Hemme To Everyone:
Replying to "When you Hide a fiel..."
okay, that has been answered now ;)
18:07:46 From Laura (she/they) To Everyone:
just being able to set a few default values and hide non-used elements in holdings/items would be so valuable

18:08:41 From Kathy Peters To Everyone:
When creating an order that doesn't have an existing instance to link to, the order is going to create an instance from order info, then the order template data should be able to map correctly to instance data. It doesn't do this correctly in all ways right now, for example the author info can't be designated as "primary" in the order so that it maps to instance data as you wish, you have to go to inventory after order is opened to correct this. Something to make work in future
18:10:15 From Ann-Marie Breaux To Everyone:
Good point, Kathy - I think that the general idea is that if the POL has created an instance, it's going to be very preliminary, and will be updated manually (or hopefully automatically) with a much more complete record when the material is received
18:12:23 From Laura (she/they) To Everyone:
I can definitely see use cases for separate templates for each record type, but also possibly linked as well (e.g., holdings/items for serials)
18:13:21 From Felix Hemme To Everyone:

18:16:50 From Lynne Fors To Everyone:
Is there anything going on in the Consortia development in FOLIO?
18:19:57 From Charlotte Whitt To Everyone:
There are placeholder features for this - I think

Let me dig it up

This is the orders template ticket: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-1665
18:21:07 From Laura (she/they) To Everyone:

One other thing that the Source field does - if Source = MARC in the Instance or Holdings, it disallows edit of specific fields that are controlled by the underlying MARC Bib or MARC Holdings, respectively.
18:26:06 From Charlotte Whitt To Everyone:
Holdings Source ID was implemented when the new work for MFHD was implemented
18:36:05 From Charlotte Whitt To Everyone:
I like the Settings page we have for Holdings Source ID, that would be nice to do similar for Item Source ID
18:45:03 From Ann-Marie Breaux To Everyone:
If there were a source field in the item, and if it were a required field, and if there's not an external record that your item would be reliant on, then it seems like all your existing items would just be set to Source = FOLIO.
18:47:08 From Felix Hemme To Everyone:
Sara you are muted
18:47:15 From Magda Zacharska To Everyone:
If the field is made required, how it will be populated by the libraries that don't need that data?
18:47:25 From Felix Hemme To Everyone:
With FOLIO value

record provenance
18:52:30 From Ann-Marie Breaux To Everyone:
Source of Truth is a good term for it - so in Felix's case for items and Chalmers' case for Instances, seeing LIBRIS for source ID would 1) lock down particular fields for editing and 2) indicate that some/most of the data in the record are controlled by a record outside of FOLIO Inventory
18:54:45 From Jennifer Eustis To Everyone:
