Discussion items
Notetaker? | Lisa McColl will continue to take minutes until someone volunteers. (No need to ask for volunteers, Laura! - we don't have the time!)
PC update | Harry from EBSCO is in favor of the committee's recommendations to develop QuickMARC and integrate with OCLC and MARCEdit as well. EBSCO is putting developers in QuickMARC. Laura encouraged group to read minutes since SIG conveners gave their monthly update. Release date for Iris is set for May 3. If April date was attempted, then some major upgrades and hotfixes would not make it into the build. Bugfest may have an expanded period of time to hopefully catch more bugs. The hope is more members of the Special Interest Groups will participate in Bugfest. Anton has a plan to engage more members. Release dates for two additional 2021 releases: May, August, November Scratch environment will be made available for testing.
OCLC integration update | requirements gathering beginning for push from OCLC (in addition to pull already being developed) will invite Mike Gorrell to future meeting Index Data is continuing development of Connexion connection allowing a record to be pulled into FOLIO from OCLC. There will also be development of the ability to push from Connexion to FOLIO, possibly from the Save file - with the intention of local edits in OCLC to record being included in the record transferred.
Other updates, announcements | No additional updates were given.
Hands-on topics | If you have something you would like to demonstrate, populate the spreadsheet. A demonstration could be given or someone could volunteer to lead a discussion on the topic Need for a glossary was discussed.
Future MM meetings | Review https://docs.google.com/document/d/1u1tvfVxn6i3fTImrWWCYHlh7RT5cf3_G7YgDuxKob4M/edit Still useful? Laura still checks this, and the Parking lot page. Will put Google Doc into the wiki environment and link to parking lot from there. Parking lot link will be part of regular agenda.
Documentation/Training resources planning | Laura E Daniels | The SIG Conveners will be meeting at the end of next week to try to come up with a shared plan for how the SIGs can best contribute to creating documentation. This will be an agenda item in a few weeks, following that meeting. Currently Information and User Guides |
Administrative Notes | At Chicago they use the 921 field for administrative notes and reporting. Larger issue than productivity statistics. Notes in MARC records can easily get removed on an overlay, which is time consuming to keep up / protect. These are not descriptive notes about the item, they are workflow/admin type notes. Ann-Marie volunteered to start a draft for a long-term solution. Admin notes desired for Instance, Holdings, Item. "Thin thread" will be getting admin notes into Instance. Three stories will be drafted. Admin notes in Instance will be the highest priority. Under Holdings and Items notes, users can currently created a Note Type=Administrative. |
