  • Dennis is out of the office today
  • Next meeting - Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 1 pm Eastern
:06PC updateKristin Martin
  • PC had discussions around Entity Management
    • what is Entitiy Management, linked data
    • MM SIG discussed whether EM should be an own SIG or a subgroup of MM
    • decision: EM will be a subgroup of MM; MM will organise a wiki presentation
  • Updates from meeting hygiene subgroup
    • page where Community can raise topics with PC
    • time zone inclusiveness
  • Next meeting on we will have a SIG convener meeting
  • Poppy release postponed until
  • Ann-Marie announced that she will be retiring from EBSCO as of Dec 31
    • Ryan Taylor is to take over most of her tasks: Data Import, Inventory, Tags etc.

  • Announcement by Sara:  https://folio-project.slack.com/archives/C217N937A/p1701972324975369?thread_ts=1699458704.215629&cid=C217N937A
    • From Slack: I have some good news--at least for me, I hope for you as well: our major subscription jobber is EBSCO subscription services, and since posting on slack a month ago, I have had the opportunity to connect with someone at EBSCO that worked with me to figure this out. ... So in the end, rather than using the PIA+5 lines, we worked it out to use the FTX+LIN line in the EDI (it seems maybe that FTX stands for Free Text). So going forward for us (upon request) they are going to enter the info volume/date to/from info into that FTX+LIN field like: 204(01/23)-205(12/23) and that then can be mapped in the Settings : Data Import : Field mapping profile: Subscription info field with: FTX+LIN+++[1]
So coming from the EDI it looks like: FTX+LIN+++204(01/23)-205(12/23)'
(I just stress this, because on our first go around it looked like: FTX+LIN++::28+204(01/23)-205(12/23)'
and that did not work. The ::28 was a problem.)
I hope this helps. And if you do work with EBSCOnet & EBSCO Subscription Services, ask for Anne Campbell, she is who I was working with! ... But if you work with a different jobber, they can probably implement something like this or just the same thing?! Cross fingers!

    • Owen will create a wiki page to make this information more publicly documented
    • there are already pages that could be updated:

German Acquisitions community feature request presentation (further integration of "e-mail" in the integration details in the Organization app)

Slides

Björn Muschall
  • Björn presents feature request related to order integration via email - UXPROD-4589
  • Link to slides
  • EDIFACT integration exists
  • but a lot of vendors do not support Edifact
  • SLUB DResden sends around 2500-3500 orders per year via email - currently based on automated ILS process
  • highly prioritised by German libraries
  • UXPROD-1129 is existing, but for an "on click" solution, not automated

Requirements for:

  • Organizations app
    • add email integration as another integration method
    • add capability for +1 order mail template with tokens
    • add scheduling
  • Orders app
    • auto-select integration method by linked organization in PO
    • display integration method
    • selection of email template configured in Organizations app
  • Scheduled email dispatch
    • based on scheduled time setting in integration details and selected mail template
    • a cumulated email dispatch is executed - all orders for one vendor in one email
    • cancellations should also be sent automatically
  • Logging and error handling
    • monitor that orders have been sent correctly
    • also not available for Edifact - could be designed nd implemented for both integration methods
  • Owen in chat: I wonder if it is worth a discussion with the Workflows SIG to see if this idea of consolidating a set of orders and sending as an email might be implemented with a workflow
    • But I guess the question is whether this is built in or part of an externally defined workflow
    • is this planned to be part of the Acquisitions module and workflow > if external, the it would be worth a discussion with Ian Walls and Jeremy Huff from Workflow SIG
    • Owen will introduce plans to Workflow SIG and get to know whether they thik it fits into Workflow area
  • Björn: this is planned to be implemented as part of FOLIO
  • one side issue: some of our libraries require not only the information for when an order is opened - but for when it is sent
  • development will be done by Leipzig/Dresden aimed for in 2024
  • ticket is assigned to Dennis Bridges as PO for ACQ to approve the idea
  • from Joe's perspective it looks fine and very useful
  • question fro Björn: is this just a German requirement?
  • How to proceed?
    • Small SIG working group
    • Just German working group
  • everyone who is interested is welcome to join the conversation - please reach out to Björn, André or Martina

Serials prediction pattern and how to enter piece data

Dung-Lan Chen
  • group continues to discuss strategies of involving expertise from various SIGs to address and anticipate all scenarios regarding serials prediction pattern and how to enter piece data (vol. issue. year, month, etc.) in Receiving app that would serve what the majority of FOLIO libraries' needs
  • Interested in participating in such a group:
  • Owen does a demonstration of where the Serials module is up to with generating predicted issues (:50)
  • Owen offers to do a linger presentation next year (2024)
  • when the group will start is still to be decided

There’s already a wiki page for Exporting orders with EDI - would it make sense to expand that set of pages to be for EDI invoices as well, or should I setup a different set of pages for invoices?

Oh, and now, at the very bottom, I see: EDIFACT mapping issues still to be resolved …. and the last things listed is sort of related … Only that is not just the sub start & end dates but more importantly including the start & end volume/no. info and to be mapped into the Subscription info field
15:26:35 From Owen Stephens To Everyone:
Replying to "Owen, I had initiall..."
