Discussion items

Product Council Update

  • agenda/minutes

  • There is a PC Secretary role.

  • The latest FOLIO sprint review is available. The link to that is in the minute

  • Recent implementer's updates (Simmons - on Fameflower, looking to upgrade to Goldenrod; Lehigh - on Goldenrod - Sharon called attention to a bug issue filed concerning data import;  Missouri State update - on Goldenrod. They have had problems with permissions ; Ian Walls from ByWater. They are supporting the implementation of 3 institutions. They mentioned data import problems; Lisa from Chalmers updated. 5 Colleges;

  • Shanghai is planning on implementing smaller libraries in the next few months.

  • The Privacy SIG is looking for volunteers and a convener. If anyone is interested, let Dracine know. Laura offered help for someone who may want to convene.

  • Vision/Strategy group.

  • Request for an OLF representative

  • Jenny Boyer will be leaving FOLIO and the OLF for another position. Calling for volunteers for Senior Product Officers.

    Question in chat from Eric P: "Has anyone heard what the timeline is for FOLIO to support "local load" of MARC Authority and MARC Holdings? Or who might have the answer? As it relates to Source Record Storage (SRS) and Data Import Apps. We heard Q4 (Iris) is being pushed back to next March." Laura will forward this question to Ann-Marie and the Scanbit PO

Subgroup & other updates/announcements?

  • The Entity Management Working Group, now that they have completed their vision statement, is finished for the moment. Jason thanked each member of the group. There will be continued work with the PC and RM SIG on this work. There is an epic now for Entity Management: UXPROD-787: Entity ManagementOpen

  • The Result List Working Group is having 2 meetings this week. Charlotte is asking feature rankings for improvements be revisited for upgrading or downgrading.

  • Productivity Stats Working Group is outlining use cases to start, meeting weekly.

MARCcat updates & development plans

@Tiziana Possemato

  • MarcCat SRS Integration

  • Coverage test - went from 0% to over 60%

  • Working towards Q4 to integrate MARCCat to FOLIO - Clarification on "Q4" - Tiziana will check with Ann-Marie. Best guess - Iris

  • Working with ScanBit

  • Cleaning code to better share to people external to at Cult

  • Identified and analyzed all UXPROD opened and in progress and assigned

  • "Coverage test" - automated quality checks on newly developed code. Needed to ensure code is ready for a new release. All apps are following these requirements. The coverage is expected to be 80% or higher. This prevents regression on most written code.

Inventory search: indexing strings with symbols & their textual equivalents

@Brooks Travis @Felix Hemme @Charlotte Whitt

UIIN-1260: Inventory search | Title search | Support strings containing “and” or “&”Closed

How are text strings indexed in Inventory, regardless of language. Even within collections, text can be multi-lingual. What other symbols, besides & need to be considered. Example given by Ann Kardos " + ". This needs to be approached systematically.

Need non-US libraries involvement. Need to gather examples from many languages. Sarah added that math and chem symbols should be considered.

Suggestion: Establish a small working group. After that asynchronous work can be done, after initial work.

Documenting use cases and expected behavior.

From Jess Lambertson: "There would surely be a number of variables (literally) regarding symbols in terms of what they would 'mean' in an index. This may not be super easy" Laura agreed, stating the group should be fairly conservative in their work.

Elastic search should be considered since FOLIO is steering towards this. (UXPROD-2592: ElasticSearch - APIs for search and data importClosed)

Contact Laura or Charlotte if you are interested in working on this.

Desired display for unmapped elements

@Christie Thomas @Natascha Owens @Charlotte Whitt

UXPROD-2652: UI Improvement. All empty data elements (currently having a dash) to be suppressed from the detail view (Instance, Holdings, Item).Draft

Currently, an element that is not mapped into an Inventory record displays as empty

Thoughts on not displaying unmapped elements / empty elements ?

Currently unmapped elements are displayed. Can this be changed, so only elements with values display. This will give a more condensed look at the data when viewing in the detail view. Empty elements currently have a dash. If there is only one element in an accordion, the accordion is unfolded. Can this be condensed in the detail view?

Future MM meetings (ongoing)
