Doreen Herold presents Lehigh custom reports build around OLE 3.0 by system staff. Mostly ad hoc reports. Library staff also uses AQUA Data Studio and OpenRefine to query database tables and output data.

  • Bad Loans Report - captured an occasional bug in the system (which was fixed); runs weekly; sent by E-Mail. Items appeared as "Checked-out to patron" on the patron's record but hadn't even been received yet.
  • Most other reports are being delivered through Google Drive as a spreadsheet.
  • Digital media studio checked out items report, daily, sent by E-Mail
  • Overdue items, run weekly, sent to Circulation staff
  • PALCI duplicate report. PALCI = the local ILL group, consists of libraries in and just outside Pennsylvania which have a shared catalog. Patrons can initiate ILL loans themselves, and it can happen that they miss that their library has the desired item itself. The report helps to understand how that has happened and how one can resolve it.
  • Unpaid purchase orders report. Gives a list of open POs. Sent by E-Mail to technical services and acquisition staff. Scheduled monthly. Is still under construction. Queries a test-server, because the reports would otherwise slow down the production server.
  • Fund report. Sent by email to collection librarians and acquisition staff. Runs twice a month. Keeps track of expenditures and the budget.
  • Working on collection statistics report. Lehigh does a lot of analysis on their collections. Lehigh has two main libraries and a storage facility. Items frequently move within these locations and it is very important to keep track of this. These data are also needed for the ACRL statistics and others. Joanne Leary: we have to do exactly the same things at Cornell. And it needs to be continued immediately after we migrate to FOLIO. It is very important.
  • Doreen: The Item records's date stamp changes when the item gets circulated. This makes it hard to create reports.
  • We need a functionality that lets us query everything, not only bibliographic data.
