• need to record institutional affiliation in transaction data

loan/return/renew

• is there an assumption that the owning library can see other patrons?

  • no, not assumed in requirements

• is there a standard between systems to use? probably NCIP

• user should be able to see checkouts from all affiliations via a signle interface

• borrowing relationship should be between patron and library

• resource sharing should be system agnostic (i.e. libraries should be able to borrow between different systems)

• NCIP probably falls short in mapping loan rules for consortial relationships

  • does owning library need to see loan rules? probably not

  • do libraries in consortia need to agree on patron classes

  • OCLC uses 008 field to indicate if owning library will lend
