Consortial Reporting

  • Discuss reporting requirements for Resource Sharing

All

 Reporting needs

  • turnaround time (aspirational need)

    • makes an assumption that data about requests sticks around once it's fulfilled

    • exception report for outliers

    • @Tania Hewes is working on data elements for filled requests

  • reports on unfilled requests

    • requests not filled by "need by" date will get a special status

  • title reports for both requests or filled requests (includes requesting library, lending library, pickup location)

    • also available for home library loans

    • useful for collection development purposes

  • input/output - counts of loans to and borrows from other libraries in the consortia (and individual libraries within the consortium)

  • filled percentage calculated by dividing number of filled requests by total number of requests

  • overdue items

    • both operational and analytical

      • operational - reports to identify currently overdue items for the purposes of getting them back

      • analytical - counts of items in an overdue status for a particular period of time

    • also lost/missing/damaged items - might need to track any/all item statuses for various reporting needs

  • items in transit for "too long" (time period needs to be adjustable)

  • fines/fees data

  • dimensions

    • target patron groups

  • number of home library items borrowed by home library patrons that are delivered to a non-home pickup location (i.e. library A items delivered to library B for library A patron)

  • look at Orbis Cascade resource sharing list of reports: https://www.orbiscascade.org/rsf-documentation/

Coordinated collections

  • bib stats

    • size of union catalog (# of bib records, # of items)

    • size of individual library collections

    • overlap/uniqueness metrics

Consortial extensions

  • are there any that we need to add/review soon?

All

Where is best place to start?

  • Local cataloging and KB development are ramping up now - might be good places to start

Wrap-up/planning

All

Next week

  • review coordinated collections reporting

  • finish up preliminary resource sharing reporting needs

  • look at requirements doc to determine areas where we can/should add consortial extensions
