Project Reshare follow-up discussion

All

Similar presentation was made to MM SIG: 2018-10-25 Metadata Management Meeting Notes

Updates from Kristen:

  • formal announcement press release (web page, etc.)

  • formulating structure for functional decisions, design work, requirements

    • product management group (representatives from committed institutions)

    • SME (more open to informal participation)

Consortial model

  • concept of a consortial tenant - this has been mentioned before; is a physical tenant or virtual/abstracted consortial presence (or both) the "right" way to go?

    • probably depends on requirements - some consortia want a real, physical shared catalog, others might want a more federated model (i.e. using z39.50, etc.)

    • it'll be important to align this model between Reshare and other FOLIO consortial functionality

Multi-tenant implementation model

  • what can we do to move this forward?

All

A.k.a. "cross-tenant", "separate tenant"

Current constraints

  • shortage of POs

  • development focused on early adopters right now

SIG convener PC meeting next week - David is out but Paula and Martina can bring up

  • prepare summary statement in advance of next week's meeting

    • David will get this started (volunteers to review/edit - Noah, Martina, probably Peter)

Go into more detail on existing JIRA tickets

Check with @Peter Sbrzesny for his ideas

Other groups that we might need to engage? e.g. sysops, user management

Wrap-up/planning

All

 Next week

  • review multi-tenant implementation model summary statement for PC meeting

  • review ERM definition of consortia:

    • A consortium is an organisational body which represents a group of libraries. In reality this can take the form of a specific organisation that acts on behalf of a group of libraries/institutions, or a group of libraries/institutions acting together with any coordination being undertaken through organisations or personnel involved in the consortium rather through a separate organisation. This latter type of coordination can be achieved via personal contacts and informal agreements but usually there has to be a group of people to organise and administer these processes and avoid duplicate activities.

  • eUsage app - review/discussion based on recent demo: https://discuss.folio.org/t/eusage-requirements-for-e-resource-usage-statistics/2189
