  • Panel of SIGs forum on April 26; all established SIGs will have a rep to provide a summary of activity; anyone comfortable with taking on that role? Joseph will send an email later to invite
  •
Update from Product CouncilDracine Hodges
  • Dracine reported that the Product Council is discussing new SIGs: Privacy, Reporting are two areas under discussion. The idea of a Privacy SIG has been given to the User Management SIG to see if it would fit with that group.

Discussion on Item statuses/Workflow at https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/-UZHFilip Jakobsen
  • Doreen asked Filip if adding a column to the item status sheet to indicate that the definition and status represent what is understood by each library. Doreen also mentioned that Andrea Loigman form the Resource Access SIG expressed interest in this idea of item statuses.
  • Doreen pointed out the Lisa from TAMU added some information to this table.

  • Analytics: Naun added a comment to the table to say his comments from last week related to bound-withs. Doreen asked why Analytics are not done. Naun suspects it was for the purposes of efficiency. ; Joseph added that Analytics are not accomplished via item status ; Naun suggested drawing out workflows ; Natasha - Believes Analytics is relevant to item status since item status drives display in circulation quite a bit. When checking out an item that is represented as both a monograph and a serial part, the item status needs to be reflected at both places ; Doreen and Christie - in OLE there is one item that connects to multiple bibs to achieve the analytic relationship (question) Has anyone worked with a system that has handled analytics well? No one responded.

  • Withdrawn: Note TAMU additions. ; Filipe said Kate was wondering whether there was one term that would apply to electronic resources such as "inactive".

  • In Transit: Dracine added but wondered if other libraries use this. Doreen described how we use this at Lehigh

General: Lynn asked if the item statuses would be hard-coded or flexible, or both.  Filipe said the hope would be mostly that the workflow engine would take over most of the roles of these item statuses. However, FOLIO may be delivered with some inflexible item statuses. Filipe clarified that these ideas may not even be called item status. This conversation helps Filipe to decide how flexible the system needs to be. For an example of flexibility of the system, Filipe has been advocating for flexibility on entering fields. This desire needs to be balanced with the need for interoperability. ; Marc Johnson - Circulation information may need to be derived from some of these listed statuses. When something is available or not available dictates the way the system needs to behave.

  • Missing: We will start here next week.

  • Write workflows to show the broader picture of library services. These statuses are merely a piece of the picture. What is the larger picture? If we are going to do this, it would have to be done in the next week or two.
  • Filipe asked if the group cdould finish looking at this table next week, either as a group or by adding comments on the table.
