Inventory Product Owner update | Holdings for journals and electronic journals are also being considered. Charlotte presented a wireframe that shared. Her wireframe is modeled after the metadata elements that had been presented by Katheryn. Charlotte first showed an printed journal with a lot of holdings information. The results column is something Charlotte would be interested in receiving feedback on: too much? too little? The instance data information - too much? too little? Instance - Contains holdings data. The Copy data shows a summarized holdings statement (one that is extremely long, for purposes of modelling. Laura asked if the note showing is associated with the Instance. Can this information appear in multiple places? Does the information need to be duplicated elsewhere? Jason wondered what the functional requirement that the instance view provides? Charlotte - Right now it is intended for the context of the inventory. Jason - This context is helpful. Charlotte then showed an electronic version of American Journal of Medicine. Charlotte linked to the print version. The link should go both ways. Lisa Furubotten mentioned that there may be records in current systems that have various formats represented in one bibliographic record. How will this be handled by FOLIO? Charlotte ask Lisa to send a records. Felix thinks a link to a related version is great, but wondered if the notes field is the appropriate place. Since "notes" is just a free text field typically. Lynn thought that Filip's demo had a place for a related version. Charlotte will talk with Filip. Charlotte will post this Discuss for us to comment. Natascha asked if this is an instance app outside of the Codex? Is this mapping from the Codex record? If so, this has more information than she thought would have been included. Lynn's understanding is that the Instance App is separate from the Codex. Peter concurred. Peter: The current thinking is that there is a global Codex search. Each metadata scheme will have their own app. The Codex will be the one place to search them. Natascha responded that she feels she is seeing a full bibliographic records. She asked if it is drawing from the full bib record. Peter said that it would have to. Charlotte clarified that Filip showed an instance record for a book which will be different that for a serial. Lynn asked about the search function in the Inventory. Is the search happening on the codex and then the results pulling from the Inventory? Where and what information is being stored for which purposes? Charlotte said it is not decided yet. Lynn: At what point in FOLIO will we be searching in the Codex vs. the other apps? Where is the Codex locking in? Peter: The current thinking is that there will be a Codex searching app that will the user to get to high level places. It is probable that the instance editing app will allow you to search by elements of that instance type. i.e. Dublin Core app would allow the user to search by Dublin Core tags - those controlled vocabs. So, at the Codex search level, it will probably be a broader view, but the instance app will allow more granularity. Peter: The vocabulary is changing. His understanding is that the Inventory App right now has the Instance metadata in it, which it should not, because that will be in the Instance app. There are times Peter has seen Instances and Inventory confused.
Call for Volunteers | Proposed MARC mappings. See column 3 in https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/display/PLATFORM/Inventory+Metadata+Elements: need a small group of 1-2 hard-core catalogers to go over? Ask colleagues / give suggestions to Lynn&Charlotte of colleagues who have cataloging expertise in special formats (music, audio-visual material, cartographic material etc.) to review existing metadata elements & suggest any additions Thread about the inventory metadata elements on discuss: https://discuss.folio.org/t/august-31st-meeting-inventory-documentation/1229

Other | Ann-Marie asked in the chat: Can I make a plug for one more discuss post? The one about eContent records in local inventory... This has come up as part of our acquisitions work in the RM Group, since we'll be thinking about whether orders hook to local inventory records or KB records, or maybe both. "Locally stored metadata records for eResources." - Discussion thread. Please contribute to the discuss thread.
Parking lot checkin | Lynn Whittenberger | How can these questions be best presented to Index Data. Any example, exemplars and information that can be included should be added to the "Parking Lot" Charlotte offered that @cult's authority control module is very strong.
