    1. Open action items from former discussions

      1. MCL: export lists - complete list

        1. is a Spike created?

        2. are there possible ways to export full MCL list to excel technically

    2. Enhancements to the UI for Inventory/Quick Marc: UI Enhancement list - status of 2023 (Nolana) | @Natascha Owens → postponed

Minutes

Edit mode: Add a just "save" button, instead of having only "Save & close" or "cancel"

  • in some apps there is already the option to "Save & keep editing"

  • Available in QuickMarc

  • Button is called "Save & keep editing" - that is very explicit but very long at the same time

  • Will be available for holdings https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIIN-2404

  • and item level: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIIN-2456

  • as well as instances: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIIN-2457

  • Owen in chat: In Orders and Agreements with have a “Create another” checkbox next to the Save button for situations where you want to save but immediately open another create form

  • Needed: consistent behaviour and labelling

  • on the other hand we shouldn't have too many buttons

  • checkbox "create another" could be a button as well

  • for organisations where contact people or interfaces are to be added, just "save" could help make the workflow smoother | otherwise users need to save and close - click actions - edit again and then connect the new contact or interface

  • idea by Dung-Lan in chat: May be to just create a floppy disk icon for people to click to save from time to time as an alternative?!  People understand what the floppy disk icon means.

  • Topic topic for meeting with UX/UI designers

Navigation within records

  • needs input from stripes team

  • collapsing accordions helps reducing the amount of information in edit mode

  • shortcuts can help

  • idea: copy shortcuts into a separate document and keep it open while working in FOLIO

  • alternative: print shortcuts and have the physical paper available

  • shorts are mainly the same across apps; except for there were specific reasons

Open action items

  • MCL: export lists - complete list

    1. is a Spike created?

    2. are there possible ways to export full MCL list to excel technically

  • further MCL agreements: UI / UX agreements across apps → if no tickets existing → Martina will create them

May be to just create a floppy disk icon for people to click to save from time to time as an alternative?!  People understand what the floppy disk icon means.
18:28:28 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I think that’s true of my generation, but not sure if it holds for those entering the profession now
18:33:49 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
I know we can collapse accordions in view mode, can we do the same in edit mode?
18:33:56 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
    Yes you can
18:34:07 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
because I find collapsing helps navigatno
18:34:12 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
    *navigation
18:34:19 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I use the shortcuts keys all the time to do this
18:34:48 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I have to admit I find the automatic expansion generally irritating rather than helpful esp when going to edit
18:35:32 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I think that’s an interesting comment (about learning shortcut keys) - do people (real users!) use the shortcut keys do we think?
18:35:43 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
And if not what can we do about that?
18:36:11 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
I use them sometimes, and they are incredibly useful for macros as well
18:36:45 Von  Pamplin, Kimberly B  an  Alle:
I always feel like they would be useful and then forget to use them.
18:37:00 Von  Ros, Amanda L  an  Alle:
Reacted to "I always feel like t..." with 👍🏻
18:37:45 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
Shortcut keys are mainly the same for most apps except where there are some special reasons for different
18:37:56 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
So only really need to print out one list
18:38:56 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
Sorry - it’s a bit of a digression from the record navigation!
18:40:46 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
I like the idea of tickets because we could have an app-interaction label
18:41:38 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I think making sure POs know about these things is important - and probably needs to be continually emphasised to them.
18:41:47 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
    +1 Owen
18:42:06 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I speak for myself but its easy to overlook some details like this when you write a new feature implementation
18:42:34 Von  Laura (she/they)  an  Alle:
I find it helpful when POs are able to join these calls, but I know that's not always possible (or fruitful)
18:43:44 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
I think a conversation with Khalilah is a good idea
18:43:57 Von  Owen Stephens  an  Alle:
Happy to take things to PO meetings if that helps
18:44:10 Von  Pamplin, Kimberly B  an  Alle:
    Thank you!
