Text field enrichment
there were requests on adding html or richt text to text fields
use cases
display hyperlinks - clickable URLs
multiple paragraphs
need to give notes fields structure: bullets, ordered lists
from a technical perspective: Use richt text format or html?
both possible
relevant question: are there any other places where this information should be displayed
only browser / FOLIO UI
or other external places
reason why this is relevant: html is "noisy" - do we want to show plein text field?
there will be reports that are exported as csv files
in some cases: Microsoft excel
there is information moved over to financial systems
is it possible to normalise the data?
yes, there are different ways of handling this
question: what do we ask from useres when editing and what approach do we want to take?
question: do we need to touch code twice when we implement responsiveness and enrichment separately?
yes, we do have to touch things twice, but maybe not the same thing
responsiveness: is not urgent, but as we agreed on it we should not hold up the implementation for richt text
question: richt text fields: opt-in or opt-out (should rich text be the default or not)?
Bibliographic data in Inventory does not need enrichment for text fields
data is transmitted to various different formats
maybe non-bibliographic data
→ then opt-in is the better way
needed: a standard way of delivering richt text fields wherever it should be used (rtf attribute)
the editor needs to be provided from central Stripes
Responsive text fields

Results:
survey result: all text fields should be responsive

00:01:21 Catherine C Tuohy: sunny cold
00:12:49 Owen Stephens: The other common thing we have is layout - being able to include multiple paragraphs
00:14:16 Kimberly Pamplin: Export results (CSV) for Orders and Invoices do pull from a couple of note fields.
00:14:27 Maura Byrne: Is there some kind of regular normalization code for stuff like that? It sounds like that’s not an uncommon problem

00:23:07 Kristin Martin: I think the impact on exports, data sharing, and reporting will need to be carefully considered.
