20 min | Feedback on Bulk delete user feature | Magda Z. | - Magda gave us a demo of the User Bulk Delete feature
- Create and upload your list of records to delete in the Bulk Edit app, not the User app. Preview is displayed.
- To create and upload list:
- Go in Bulk Edit app
- select record identifier and choose your file
- query search example: “patron group”=faculty
- search produces a preview – user can download the file
- query search example: active=false
- Select “Start bulk delete” under the actions function which takes user to the “Are you sure?” pop-up which shows a preview and an error portion (won’t delete due to outstanding issues).
- “Download preview” will show the records that will be deleted, errors will not be included.
- Click “Delete” and a confirmation banner will appear.
- Under “actions” user can download errors in a csv file
- Questions for group:
- Soft vs hard delete?
- Soft - when user clicks “delete” the records are not really deleted but marked for deletion and will be deleted later in a purging job that will run as scheduled
- Hard – when user clicks “delete” the records are deleted instantly
- Make an abbreviated record that stays forever in the data base
- Magda will ask developers for more information on this
- The elements of the “are you sure” form
- The preview shows top 10 records, if you want to see the whole list click “Download preview”
- Showed us bulk edit permissions
- CSV: delete, edit, view
- In app: delete, edit, view
- They’re considering different permissions for bulk edit inventory and bulk edit users
- Magda will return in two weeks with an update
