  • Leipzig has created a barcode generator and will demo it.

  • App-Interaction SIG has been discussing field-based permissions.  Their spreadsheet contains some User field permissions.  Are there others?

  • The generator lets you fill the barcode field with a unique number with a button press

  • Customization for pre and post fixes

  • Is there a better place in settings we can put the Number Generator?

    • Service interaction is intentionally separate from Users as the module is designed to be able to be used across many apps

      • The setting to enable or disable the number generator in the Users app is under Users settings

  • Will it be possible to use alternate checksums?

    • Yes, with some backend work

  • Will this be extended for use for item barcodes?

    • Yes this is planned as well as:

      • Call numbers

      • Accession numbers

      • Vendor codes

      • Identifiers in Inventory Instance

  • What will permissions look like for this app?

    • Permissions for admins to CRUD the various generators.

    • No distinct users permission to use the generators in-app if they are enabled.

  • Barcode generator sequences are limited by-app

  • The setting for enabling and disabling the generators in users should eventually have the options for

    • Just using the generators

    • Not using the generators and just typing in barcodes

    • Option to use generators or type in barcodes manually

    • Please send checksum, and generated field needs to @Martina Tumulla

Field-based user permissions

 

  • Existing use-cases:

    • View personal information fields

      • Specific address types

      • Mobile phone

      • Birth Date

      • Email Address?

      • Of course ideally these would be selectable on a per-field basis for each FOLIO tenant.

    • Custom field edits

      • Seems like these already exist.

  • These things will require significant development and will not be coming soon

  • Asked in chat: pop-up messages in user records

    • Should show when you first enter, but not every time you navigate to something different in the record. 

    • We already talked about this and there are already tickets in to have this fixed.
