ItemWhoNotes
AdministriviaMarcia

Dracine's last meeting, moving into FOLIO SMLLC Manager role at CC. She'll be around.

Molly Driscoll has some capacity to contribute to Documentation; she will help 1) Laura Daniels on "search" for inventory; 2) Export Manager app

Including vendor documentation on the docs.folio.org site Marcia

EBSCO is interested in contributing specific instructions about how to integrate GOBI, the EBSCO KB for eHoldings, EBSCONET for subscription renewals, EDS, Panorama for libraries using that for some of their reporting needs. What does the group think? Does this live on docs.folio.org? Solicit other vendors?

Reactions

  • there should be a threshold of what is and what is not included? what are the criteria to make it in? truly extensible, not necessarily custom
  • it could be high-level section around "vendor integrations" - sub-levels - ex. discovery, acquisitions, acquisitions
  • how useful? how prevalent in the community?
  • partnership between vendors and community; in the vendors best interest to provide support for documenting how to integrate with their service/tool
  • there are open source tools to integrate with, as well, that are not "owned" by any particular vendor
  • looking for practical application, there may be implementer experts already in the community

Export Manager AppMarcia

Any volunteers to create documentation for it? More functionality now exists including exporting EDIFACT format orders to vendors (Lotus).   Molly Driscoll willing to help.

JB - Julie explained from Orders app how to transmit orders to vendors in Morning Glory, but needs more Export Manager app specific documentation.

Where does this app fit in in the left-side navigation?

Other things related to this app? - Bursar, circ?

WOLFcon debrief

Group

From Christine - there was a question on should documentation include "how to search users?"

Marcia thinks leads to question of what is inventory vs what is search? how does FOLIO think about search?  Is this a Platform Essentials topic?

Release Notes - often tricky and problematic for many consumers for various purposes. it would help a lot of folks if these can be improved. Is this something we should add to Docs WG responsibilities? Does it add value to have this group enhance the Notes.

Laura suggests a "here's what's new" instead of "release notes" to summarize.

Christine suggests "Release Summary" paragraph at the beginning of each section

Dennis, others very hesitant to edit "Release Notes" because of the technical pieces that are beyond scope/understanding; suggests making it more language friendly to end-users.

Conversation to be continued...

Morning Glory / Nolana check-inSIG reps

Marcia will slack Ian about a deadline; release for MG is set for Sept 26 - https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/x/RoNE

Julie (Orders)- finding things that should have been in Lotus; but otherwise going well.

Dennis (Data import/export) - both updated for Morning Glory; have an outstanding question to Ann-Marie; otherwise good to go as is.

Christine (Users/Settings) - looks good; going to double check to make sure nothing was missed; pretty much ready to go.

Emma (ERM - Licensing, Agreements, eholdings, Dashboard) - mostly sorted; new eholdings functions for MG being pushed to Nolana; so for now Lotus documentation covers MG; function in eholdings goes in to Export Manager in Nolana; Agreements - big chunk missing, internal knowledgebase; Felix took over some of the ERM internal kb; needs Felix or Owen to review; but they haven't yet; not comfortable publishing without that review. Marcia thinks its a go and can loop on next round with the known upcoming major changes. Ready later today.

Sharon (Reporting) - MG pull request still needs to be pulled in; Ian reviewed and merged in meeting; looking for dates for Nolana and MG for planning purposes; there is an actual app - MOD-LDP. Cornell has it and is testing. New additions - Alexander Chen Lao (Stanford) and Eliana Lima (FLO) joining the Reporting SIG documentation subgroup, will help with documentation taking over for people who have left the project.  Axel and Sharon will remain leads for now, but hope to shift in the future.

Laura (Inventory) - completed MG docs; asked a few people for review alongside updating the wiki; not started on Nolana; will work with Molly on inventory search; good team bringing a resource access perspective; she and Molly will need to consider what belongs inventory vs what belongs in platform essentials? We see this a significant gap in current documentation.

Ian asks to have MG completed content by end of day Thursday, September 22.

Celebratory acknowledge of being in sync with releases

Nolana tentatively planned for December 12 release date. Nolana (R3 2022)
