Attendance & Notes

  • Today's note-takers:  Team Leads for project updates

Product Council UpdateJennifer

There was no meeting last week. The minutes for the 8-31-2023 are up. PC working groups are being setup. For this group here, an important one is improving or enhancing SIG reports (see draft wiki page). This group will be working on how to optimize SIG reports and how SIG's can get help from the PC. If you have ideas or comments, please reach out to me.

The Technical Council will be meeting today (Technical Council wiki page and calendar) to review the new FOLIO module, mod-fqm-manager. This new FOLIO module is behind the new List App ([Orchid] List App test report) which is an App where users can create, save, and manage lists or sets. This was discussed in the PC meeting, 2023-06-08 Product Council Meeting notes. There are screenshots in the 2023-06-08 Metadata Management Meeting notes. If you attended WolfCon, there were 2 presentations (one on new features and the other on architecture). The first iteration is creating, saving and managing sets in one App (users & items). The end goal is to allow users to use the List App for data across FOLIO apps. Is there interest in having the primary software engineer Matt Weaver come to a meeting?

What did we learn at WOLFcon 2023?All

Virtual and In-person WOLFcon 2023 attendees will update the group on what they learned at the conference:

  • See the WOLFcon 2023 Schedule
  • See video recordings at OLF Recordings
  • several sessions on different reporting solutions, good for Reporting SIG to cover these additional areas
    • Lists App, Metabase,
  • Wolfcon virtual experience was great, one room had technical difficulties
  • Applications and Management Thereof
    • gather modules into applications and start looking at places where transactions between applications are problematic and to optimize communications between applications; interact at a higher level than within the modules; can contacts be made?; need to rethink/redesign connections between applications; may impact the way we report on data; this approach will take years to realize
    • connections between applications are crucial
  • reactions to Reporting Sessions
  • reactions to other sessions
  • new FOLIO features and tools
  • new approaches to working with reporting and data
  • questions

DBS-ClusterAxel & Stefan

The DBS cluster was created in JIRA to collect the open JIRA issues for DBS and work on them in the D-Reporting working group.

Status update to project

Build a directory of extracted and derived tables

Angela & StefanAngela worked on the project to create a website for the automated documentation https://www.angelazoss.com/folio_reporting_project_extracted_derived_tables/ . Please take a moment to see if this is okay.

Project updates

Reporting development is using small subgroups to address priorities and complete work on report queries.  Each week, these groups will share reports/queries with the Reporting SIG.  Reporting development team leads are encouraged to enter a summary of their work group activities below.

MM/RA/UM Working Group

ERM Working Group

  • Current topic
    • Reporting for the FOLIO App Open Access
  • Meetings are bi-weekly on tuesdays 11am ET alternating with ACQ Working Group

ACQ Working Group

Reporting SIG Documentation Subgroup

  • Orchid documentation is live on https://docs.folio.org/docs/

External Statistics Working Group

  • no updates currently
  • new organizational/tracking scheme for JIRA, with pointers to queries in folio-analytics repository
  • New organizational structure for External Statistics reports
    • external statistics reports (e.g., ACRL) typically require running queries from different functional reporting areas
    • these reports will be captured in JIRA under one UXPROD-XXXX report cluster issue, then the descriptions will point to each of the queries required to run them on the folio-analytics repository
    • institutions will need to rank each of these 8 new UXPROD-XXXX report cluster issues
    • each reporting development team will take responsibility for the queries in their area for the external statistics clusters
