SIG Recruitment

We will need to be recruiting for a variety of roles in the coming months. Please consider whether you would be interested. Reach out to Angela Zoss (Old) or Sharon Beltaine with any questions.

  • Representative for the Documentation Working Group
  • Query developers
  • Members of the FOLIO Analytics Review Board (immediate need!)
  • Members and possibly a leader for monthly MM/RA/UM development subteam
  • Co-convener

Proposal: Cancelling Bi-monthly Development MeetingsAngela

For discussion:

  • Right now, we have a cross-functional area Development Meeting twice a month. These give us opportunities to do some planning outside of our development subteams and also share tips and tricks.
  • With Angela leaving, we don't really have anyone to run the dev meetings.
  • Separately, we often find that it's difficult to come up with topics for our main SIG meetings.
  • Proposal: shut down the development meeting series and move development discussions to SIG meetings
  • We have already been treating Thursdays as more of a "training" meeting and Mondays as covering some of our more advanced topics, so this would probably mean we go into even more development details on Mondays
  • Thoughts? Concerns?
Overview of Documentation Working GroupEliana Lima
  • https://docs.folio.org/docs
  • this is basically a manual created by the FOLIO community
  • Reporting has its own section: Reporting with LDP1/Metadb
  • This site updates with every flower release of FOLIO, so the Releases tab at the top allows you to switch between FOLIO versions
  • Reporting documentation is a bit different, since there isn't a direct link between our work and the FOLIO flower releases. The group comes up with an approximation of what is true for reporting at the time when a flower release is made
  • Reporting is also documenting something that isn't specific to FOLIO; LDP is also used by ReShare. There is external documentation for that project, so there is a lot of linking out. Team can't really duplicate existing documentation, so just has to document what isn't documented elsewhere.
  • Naming conventions are hard. LDP is the project, software is now called LDP1 (as of Orchid). Metadb has also been added.
  • Notes for the Reporting Documentation subgroup

Recurring Items (Updated weekly, but not always discussed in meeting)

Project updates

Reporting development is using small subgroups to address priorities and complete work on report queries.  Each week, these groups will share reports/queries with the Reporting SIG.  Reporting development team leads are encouraged to enter a summary of their work group activities below.

Reporting SIG Documentation Subgroup

  • Morning Glory documentation is live on https://docs.folio.org/docs/
  • Nolana documentation is in review
  • Orchid documentation will be in progress soon, and plans are underway to include beta-level documentation for Metadb
  • Additional Context
    • The Reporting SIG has representation on the Documentation Working Group, which is building end-user documentation for https://docs.folio.org/docs/ (mostly linking to existing documentation over on GitHub)

External Statistics Working Group

  • no updates currently
  • new organizational/tracking scheme for JIRA, with pointers to queries in folio-analytics repository
  • New organizational structure for External Statistics reports
    • external statistics reports (e.g., ACRL) typically require running queries from different functional reporting areas
    • these reports will be captured in JIRA under one UXPROD-XXXX report cluster issue, then the descriptions will point to each of the queries required to run them on the folio-analytics repository
    • institutions will need to rank each of these 8 new UXPROD-XXXX report cluster issues
    • each reporting development team will take responsibility for the queries in their area for the external statistics clusters

D-A-CH Working Group (D-Reporting)
