Notes
Claims returned
- Two functions need to be available when checking in a claims returned item
- Button 1: Checks in item. Assigns responsibility to the library. Does not charge patron any overdue fines.
- Button 2: Checks in item. Assigns responsibility to patron (e.g., if found in return bin). Charges patron overdue fines.
- Permissions for checking in items
- Some employees should not be able to resolve at all without supervisor override; some should be able to resolve only by assigning responsibility to the patron, and some should be able to use either button
- Notifying a designated person would be nice, but is not necessary for v1
- Searching for a claims returned item
- for UChicago, would be difficult to go back to manual process, & other universities interested in moving away from their manual processes
In-house use
- Uses check-in screen
- Whenever an item is available & recently returned, and checking it in does nothing to change its status (may not be a factor), that's an in-house use
- Cornell uses a scanner and loads data into Voyager, but if FOLIO operated on tablet could make process more portable
Action items and next meeting
- Next meeting: April 18 at 1pm Eastern
- Emma needs to report on Reporting for next week
