New features in Users app

• Changes to edit patron screen (departments, username)

• Create request, create fee/fine, and create block available from Actions dropdown menu

• Auto-fill expiration date based on patron group when creating new user record; button to prompt "Do you want to overwrite?" if there is data already filled in the expiration date field

  • Would this be confusing for staff creating user records?

  • Should the button appear only when data will be overwritten or whenever the field is going to be filled by selecting a patron group?

  • The button should appear only when the patron group selection would provide an automatic expiration date

  • What if a patron is being "reactivated" but is not changing patron group? Having the button visible at all times would allow you to click the button to update the expiration date without having to change the patron group multiple times

• Is a pop-up necessary for forced interaction with the user to confirm the change? Yes, we would prefer having a confirmation to prevent error messages

  • Only one pop-up is necessary: do you want to recalculate the expiration date?

• Patron block templates in process of being rolled out

  • Protections for overwriting fields likely to be ranked R1, but most other tickets unlikely to be ranked high enough for consideration with Iris

Script for creating users with permissions

• Zak Burke has created a script to assign permission sets to users programmatically

  • https://github.com/folio-org/folio-tools/tree/master/add-users

• We need a way to work on permission management (over 300+ visible permissions in current version of FOLIO)

• Maura has been working on a similar script as well as scripts to compare and review new permissions as they are added

• Discussion about permissions for next week's UM meeting

Searching/filtering user permissions in Users app

• Original intention was to allow for filtering on text

• Filtering by permission sets would be easier to get set up as a "first step" towards being able to search by permissions

• Filter should be named "Permission Sets" to avoid confusion for staff users
