Discussion items
- Review tables across all Apps
- MCLs
- Request to have frozen headings on MCLs
- Modals or other popups need to move–should not be fixed in place on the screen
- ability to change size of modal
- Warning Modals needed when deleting any record in any App when it is the source of truth for other records
- Wildcards (truncation marks) need to be standardized across all Apps
- How Dates are formatted and entered
- Spaces handling
- Review tables across all Apps
Minutes
- MCL = Multi column list
- Sara walks through the first use case: when there are many lines and columns on an MCLs it would be helpful to fix column headers and the first row
- freezing or pinning headings makes sense to the group
- existing solution to help keep overview over MCL: there is the option in result lists to decide what will display; that could be an option to solve this as well; is used in some MCLs on orders already
- hide columns would not be a solution for all use cases, because in many cases the user needs to see all columns
- there are generally challenges in navigating a long list
- John Coburn in chat: https://folio-org.github.io/stripes-components/?path=/story/multicolumnlist--max-height-virtualized
- Khalilah: we could display columns based on filters
- Khalilah in chat: I think we should support ability to filter such lists too along with allow one to change lists.
- Martina S in chat: +1
- we should align the MCLs across apps and have a consistent design
- Kristin: export option helps as well; you can do more in excel; e.g. export is available for some MCLs in orders
- export does not help in every situation; but would be nice as an additional option
- Zak: as far as freezing the 1st column is concerned, it is difficult to know what the height of each list should be
- Charlotte in chat: Will the change of the list be per session, or something the user can customize?
- user preferences
- Kimie in chat: JFYI - normally if the accordion contains a list of items, there is a badge with a number showing to the right of the accordion. https://folio-org.github.io/stripes-components/?path=/story/badge--basic-usage
- Gill in chat: In some cases it seems like a full search and sort for the sub-MCLS is needed. An option to pop out a sub-MCL into out into its own full screen window with search and filter options.
- the group is in favour of this option
- there is no column pinning possible at the moment
- idea: maybe the user could try to trigger on its own
- potential first steps
- display MCL full screen
- freeze headers
- Khalilah wants Kimie to look over
- additional use case: it would be helpful to have line numbers in result lists as MCLs
- important to have in mind that numbers are usually independant from the line content
- first line will always be #1
- there should be an indicator that it is a row number; because there are some exceptions where it is not
- additionally, numbers could give an ancor for clicking to see more details
- you can define columns as never hide, this would be needed for the column with the clickable numbers
- group agrees that export option for MCLS would be helpful
- Kristin in chat: Maybe that would be easier if we pop out the MCL into a different window too.
- export all data should be easy
- there may be differences between MCLs that show all results and multi page MCLs - there is the option to have some patterns
- in general, resorting should go along with repageing
- Kristin in chat: Maybe that would be easier if we pop out the MCL into a different window too.
- sorting of table headers should be available consistently across apps
- it would be helpful to have a sort indicator, that indicates that a column is sortable
- Khalilah in chat: We need to consider two patterns 1.) View lists only and 2.) View lists and take action on the lists
- the group will continue discussions in 2 weeks, on

🙏
18:10:44 Von Laura Daniels an Alle:
as opposed to medial collateral ligament (the only ligament in the knee that will heal itself when torn)
18:14:12 Von Dung-Lan Chen an Alle:
It depends on what you are trying to do/look at
18:14:22 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
+1 Dung-Lan
18:15:06 Von Lloyd (Marmot Library Network) an Alle:
We would never use copy number. I would like to hide that.

I see you Zak, you are next ;)
18:21:25 Von Kimie Matsudo Kester an Alle:
Freezing or pinning the column headers makes sense to me 👍
18:21:33 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
same here +1
18:21:38 Von Maura Byrne an Alle:

18:21:43 Von Kristin Martin an Alle:

18:22:05 Von Charlotte Whitt an Alle:
Yes, maybe an eye symbol next to the header label.
18:23:15 Von Khalilah Gambrell an Alle:
I think we should support ability to filter such lists too along with allow one to change lists.
18:23:23 Von Brooks Travis an Alle:
Yeah, that problem didn't even occur to me, as a trackpad user with side-scrolling.
18:23:41 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
+ 1 @khalilah
18:24:29 Von Charlotte Whitt an Alle:
Will the change of the list be per session, or something the user can customize
18:25:05 Von Kimie Matsudo Kester an Alle:
JFYI - normally if the accordion contains a list of items, there is a badge with a number showing to the right of the accordion. https://folio-org.github.io/stripes-components/?path=/story/badge--basic-usage
18:28:54 Von Maura Byrne an Alle:
Does the list of columns show up better if the user closes the “Search and filter" frame?
18:29:29 Von Brooks Travis an Alle:
Could we consider a standard full-screen list view that could be invoked for all MCLs?
18:29:45 Von Maura Byrne an Alle:
+1 Brooks
18:30:11 Von Lloyd (Marmot Library Network) an Alle:
+1 Brooks
18:30:58 Von Khalilah Gambrell an Alle:
What other problems do folks have with viewing/navigating long lists on a detail record?
18:31:21 Von Laura Daniels an Alle:
+1 to Zak's point about hiding and forgetting that one has hidden something
18:31:44 Von Laura Daniels an Alle:
I often forget I've selected facets for my search!
18:34:24 Von Gill Osguthorpe an Alle:
In some cases it seems like a full search and sort for the sub-MCLS is needed. An option to pop out a sub-MCL into out into its own full screen window with search and filter options.
18:35:07 Von Owen Stephens an Alle:
That seems like a nice idea
18:35:50 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
+1 Gill
18:35:57 Von Khalilah Gambrell an Alle:
@Gil - eholdings has a search/filter within a list feature.
18:36:23 Von Charlotte Whitt an Alle:
I like the full screen option too
18:37:07 Von Charlotte Whitt an Alle:
View in full screen as a temporary view, and then you can click out of that, and will be back in the three pane layout
18:37:23 Von Maura Byrne an Alle:
+1 Charlotte
18:40:28 Von Gill Osguthorpe an Alle:
@Khalilah 👍🏼I've seen the filter for eHoldings, it's nice.
18:46:16 Von Lloyd (Marmot Library Network) an Alle:
+1 for line numbers
18:53:17 Von Kristin Martin an Alle:
Maybe that would be easier if we pop out the MCL into a different window too.
18:55:47 Von Khalilah Gambrell an Alle:
We need to consider two patterns 1.) View lists only and 2.) View lists and take action on the lists
19:00:31 Von Charlotte Whitt an Alle:
Yes, sounds great Martina
19:00:42 Von Dung-Lan Chen an Alle:
Allow user to set how many records from the result list can be displayed before one keeps clicking on "next" button to get to see more?!
19:00:54 Von Owen Stephens an Alle:
For me as a PO I have to admit it's easy to overlook including making each column in the MCL sortable
