Goldenrod release update

• Release

  • Series of go/no-go meetings. Make go decision today with some known issues.

  • Data Import issue: 3K limit on 

    • Team is working on refactoring to allow greater capacity

    • Synchronous HTTP is very resource intensive, looking to revise to not use HTTP

    • Drafting a proposal to be reviewed within team, once agreement within team will extend to tech leads

    • Expect solution by end of Q3

    • Testing will be done in TAMU environment, will give additional visibility into problem

• Hotfix

  • Patron Block, quickMarc functionality

  • Issues with making mod-oai-pmh HA-compatible

  • total about 25 hot fixes

  • Expect to finish within 1-2 Sprints

  • Possible we could release hot fixes in waves

UI Testing task force update

• UI testing group still getting started

• Still use two testing frameworks: Nightmare for end-to-end and BigTest v.1 for unit/integration

  • Both have been deprecated

  • BigTest v.2 alpha expected in late July?

• 3-4 other test frameworks under review

• Challenges

  • As team have a lot of experience with BigTest v1, expect that BigTest v2 would be easier transistion

  • If we were starting from scratch, would probably look at something more common in JS community for React testing

  • Would it be possible to find a tool that could meet both front-end and back-end testing needs?

  • Want to give recommendation on how to write front-end tests in 1-2 Sprints

  • SPIKEs assigned to individual developers to PoC for different candidates.
