Announcements/Updates

Update on Item Status/Item State | Three-part item state: Availability, Needed for, Process Link to slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/11BE_G1o-yBNg1ki8HyaDTdmkrP03_cR7KGjiXQviwuQ/edit#slide=id.g8b76928899_0_70 Example of the Concept: Availability: In Process, Needed for: Cataloging, Process: N/A (will become cataloging when cataloging happens) Other examples: Reserves processing, Paged, Missing Even if availability is not "In Process" the process can still have a value. For example, "Availability Missing" might have a Process of "Search" Three-part item state set in Item Record Currently called Item Status (checked out, available, missing, withdrawn) Item record will be where users can set item state under Staff Processes and allow for notes field. In Check in App discussion about what types of alerts should show when process status is active. For alerts for when an item is checked in: Should circulation staff be able to confirm check in if item has a value level stetting? Different views, setting should be tenant-level setting, but would be even better if there would be some processes that could happen at process level for certain processes. Alerts for when an item is checked in, how to display? By date? With certain processes always showing at the top? Right now this process is pretty manual Tracking Status History/ Item Status Log Image of item status tracking table wireframe Questions Ann-Marie: When is this work happening? Emma: Probably not Q3. Kristin Martin: When we are receiving an item, will the item still move from "on order" to "in process"? Emma: Yes, the group has not decided how this will display in other apps. It might impact the receiving app. Ann-Marie: Processes like cataloging might need to be set as part of the receiving. Also point of order, can you set item status? Right now it defaults to "on order". Sarah: Being able to do this at the point of order is important, we're ordering for reserves, for scanning, for specific faculty. Kristin: We probably need to talk more about integration with orders. Sarah: Will alerts be a part of this feature? For example, if a faculty just wants to be notified that a book on order has gone to the stacks? Lucinda: For us, the alert/automated email is very important. Right now if patron replys back it goes to circulation and they can put it on hold. Emma: We will need to look further into this. Sarah: Item status tracking is very helpful for troubleshooting, such as the reason column. Will From column have issues for European members? Emma: In FOLIO there should be a setting libraries can set about displaying and tracking this personal information. Sarah: I like how changes are not merged together, but is it possible for the when column to have true timestamp so that you could distinguish between something happening in the morning or in the afternoon or within a few minutes? Emma: I will add that point to the wireframe Sarah: What app will these status be able to be changed in? Emma: Things can change in the check in app, inventory. |
