UX group has been discussing first 165 use cases in Functional Matrix list. Entries in the blue color is from the original spreadsheet; items in red are items that are added.
Here is the page for the UX/UI group.
- Where do we want to go with this list? If the RM group splits up between a group building the RM functionality in FOLIO and a scholarly communications group, the first group could use the list to build the functionality.
- How will these two group interact? e.g., if we want to push for a shared KB, how will that affect the basic use cases/functionality?
- The scope of RM functional matrix is broad for all types of acquisitions/serials functionality. How do we work on the different aspects of the functional matrix?
- One approach: scenario planning - draw up scenarios, are these scenarios valuable for the members of this small group? Then share for feedback.
- What do we want to do at the in-person meeting? That might help us determine the right people to move forward.
Jacob showed a presentation of the process at Novo Nordisk. Focused on how the library could support the research process at Novo Nordisk.
What is our timeline? Index Data would like to have something to code in February, based on the liklihood that they would be coding from Filip's work with the UX/UI group. So we need to have an idea of the whole picture before we go into specifics.
Kristin brought up the FOLIOforum and the idea of following up with small focus groups. This is on the researcher process and information sources. We're not quite clear on this will impact on ERM. A lot of the functionality needed for an ERM won't be impacted by these focus groups. Our challenge is providing the types of key functionality that we need NOW with looking ahear to the future to support modes of research that are currently outside of ERM scope.
If we have a goal, how can we get there? We need to have a plan. Working remotely is a challenge, but we need come up with a roadmap/plan and goals for group. Does Jacob need to interview more backend librarians?
Two parallel tracks:
- Further research on library back end operations.
- Paula/Eric willing to walk Jacob through their workflows at Tamu.
- Kristin suggested meeting with Jacob and new acquisitions librarian Susan Martin
- big picture follow-up of researcher needs from FOLIOforum
Jacob will be away for next two weeks. He will be coming to the U.S. for Charleston Conference and can be in the U.S. the week after and the week after in Boston.
- Wants more interviews with researchers, particularly researchers from the natural sciences and business and engineering
- what is relevant for students? Would like to interview students, would be most interested in interviewing in the places where they actually work
- Want to schedule 2-3 follow-up online forums from the major FOLIO forum. Jacob suggests Oct. 17-18 or week of Oct. 24 to have these. Jacob would like 2 to be scheduled and then see how they go. Select theme for each of these groups to keep it narrower. Jacob will write up description and share on Monday.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 18, at 7:30 CT/8:30 ET/2:30 PM Europe
