30 | FOLIO infrastructure / NFRs |
| What are we going to do with the debt? - Harry is concerned about the PC and their perspective
- The App Store model comes with some communication problems, some people are concerned that they will loose support for key features
- Roadmap document lists features
- Harry is trying to balance features with these NFRs that can directly impact our ability to expand the user base and developer base
- How to we get NFRs onto the roadmap
- Jason wants a way to surface NFRs to a roadmap level.
- James would like to see a short paragraph that explains the desired arrangement of Code and Functionality that does not include the phrase "App Store"
- Anton is interested in combining modules back together to reduce the total number of modules
- Combine Storage and Business Logic modules: Lots of support; Get rid of the storage modules
- Should improve performance by reducing HTTP calls
- Later combining schemas could further improve this
- Brandon mention that there is some orchestration in OKAPI that can create issues
- Brandon would like to see this removed, so that modules can be upgraded without running directly into OKAPI
- OKAPI shouldn't do any kind of orchestration; We want a leaner OKAPI
- Brandon wants this to a pure API gateway and not let it deploy containers
- Anton agrees and is interested in replacing OKAPI with a more standard library
- Folks are interested in this, but it is a lot of work and will take significant time to unwind
- Ian has looked at other API gateways and is interested in the Platform Components coming more off-the-shelf
- Ian advocates for NOT asking for permission for this kind of change.
