Folio Documentation

Ingolf; Testers

Let's finally sign off the content of the single server installation for the folio docs project .

Several of us have tested this content  by now; let's collect our thoughts and prepare a final version today.

Please fork https://github.com/folio-org/docs if you haven't done so, yet.

Edit

https://github.com/folio-org/docs/blob/master/content/en/docs/Getting%20started/Installation/singleserverwithcontainers.md

in your local branch.

Create a pull request.

Open question: Should two single server documents with almost the same content been maintained? See https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/DOCS-31

Discussion

  • Let's dont keep documentation in 2 different places

  • DevOps team could document in folio-org/docs (instead of in folio-org/folio-install)

  •  folio-org/install and folio-org/docs are subject to diverge in the future

  • responsibilty of DevOps team ?

  • documentation should be made a priority !

  • long term perspective ! Will this be maintained by the documentation wg ? For how long ? By dev ops team ?

  • SysOps should be a piece of the puzzle, but not the solely responsible group

  • SysOps can make pull requests

  • Marcia's site is linked better; should be the main goto in the project

  • single server site needs to be linked in

  • involve teach leads; not force it on a specific group

Single server without containers

  • remove from the official documentation

  • but keep in git repo, "alternative installs"

  • unclear if package management solution works

How are we configuring SSO ?

Ingolf

Question from Erin Nettifee from the documentation working group.

Her draft document is here: Settings > Tenant - Google Docs

Discussion

SSO is not in a great state

mod-login-saml/README.md at master · folio-org/mod-login-saml (github.com)  - this is really flashed out ; it doesn't go far enough ; you need to talk to your identity people. It is not a 100% complete solution. Some new features need to be added.

Plugins in the Settings - Tenant section :

Jason: There is only one plugin for each type of folio component. Neither we can see when the Preferred Plugins selection might be used.

The answers to the SSO config question are all in the Slack Thread: https://folio-project.slack.com/archives/C210RP0T1/p1618430306134500  ; and, yes, you have to talk to your IT staff.

Topics for next meeting (April 30th)

  • We will be closer to release !

  • Planning for WolfCon, June 1-3

Action items

Jason will match his documentation of the Rancher installation https://github.com/folio-org/folio-install/tree/master/alternative-install/kubernetes-rancher/TAMU with the one on the folio-org/docs repo and make a commit for "OK" in the docs repo.
