  • Stephanie introduced the possibility of using quickMARC to copy an existing MARC record and create a new MARC record within FOLIO (meaning, create/copy/derive existing MARC record via Inventory which would then create a new HRID, UUID, save to SRS and then create new Instance; format type would have to remain the same as original MARC record)
  • Group consensus: Although there are use cases for deriving a new MARC record from an existing MARC record, this seems to go beyond simple editing of MARC and ventures into real cataloging workflows and so is out of scope for quickMARC.
  • Group will revisit the possibility of adding this type of functionality to quickMARC app only if there is significant demand.  Otherwise, it seems appropriate to use OCLC Connexion or wait for MARCedit to fulfill this use case.
