CC Decision Making

On the question of whether or when a quorum is needed, voting process, relationship to Lazy consensus.

Types of decisions:

1. Elections

2. Policy

3. Establishing/changing a Process

4. Actions

5. Fiscal decisions 

Quorum:  make sure, that for any kind of decisions ("lazy consensus" or other if necessary) that a certain number of members is present. 

Decision: 9 members should be the minimum number of members making decisions

Discussion: 

• Are there decisons, where a more formal process is needed? e.g. fiscal decisions, changes in government structure, ....

• "lazy consensus"  - make sure, that decisions are made and recorded - after a constructive exchange of opinions

• Making decisions is depending on having enough information and time for exchange in advance

• Remark: If we have some async decisions then we need to define a timeframe and comms channel

Recruiting within the FOLIO community

Are there any guidelines that should be developed for recruiting members within the FOLIO community - i.e. Organization A recruits an active FOLIO participant from Organization B. 

• Onboarding is still an effort for the person and the institution  

  • sustainability is desirable

• All efforts to make onboarding easier and more effective is helpful

• A longterm question →  FOLIO needs more developers and others 

Communications Actions

Are there any actions related to the Communications discussion last week (a subgroup formation, etc.)?

• Rachel is observer to CC 

• Input on quarterly newsletter is intended

  • Who drives the newsletter?

    • Rachel, Community Outreach SIG, PC / SIG reports

    • new idea: videos to promote onboarding process

• Consistent usage of communication channels

• CC Onboarding subgroup  →  no CC subgroup but a whole CC's group topic

• FOLIO webside and wiki are very different in appearance and content

Resource subgroups:

• Appeal to current Members (Paula, Dracine, Kirstin, Mike) - working on a draft letter to members for contributions to bridge current gap

• Identify grant opportunities (Tom, Ian, Rachel) - pondering if it is a free for all or scoped parameters for applying

• Grown the membership (Harry, Boaz, Simeon, Marko)- will meet today, update will follow!

Election subgroup (Mike, Harry, Maike, with assistance from Paula, Simeon and Keven as needed)- no update
