Purpose: After performing UAT in the Quesnelia release, we received a lot of feedback on the current implementation of the settings for managing authority files. This implementation features a pane with an MCL containing all information about each file. The proposed redesign creates a three-pane solution (Manage authority files mocks)

Proposal

1. Default list

We would remove the second pane that contains “Manage authority files”, as these are currently the only settings in the MARC authority section. The second pane would just contain an MCL with minimal data about each file:

• Name (hyperlink)

• Status

  • This replaces the “Active” column, and instead of showing the checkbox, we could show “Active” vs “Inactive” based on the configuration

• Updated / Updated by

The Edit and Delete actions would no longer occur as Actions in the MCL.

2. Select existing file

When a user selects the file name, a third pane appears. The third pane contains all of the information about that file. Users can then use the Actions menu to perform the Edit or Delete action.

3. Edit authority file - source = local

Once the user selects “Edit” from the Actions menu in the third pane, a full screen pane appears. The options for editing as well as the validation remain the same. However, instead of the “Active” checkbox, the settings should contain “Status” with a required dropdown containing either “Active” or “Inactive”.

Note: The mockup below shows an HRID starting with zeroes. However, we will retain the existing validation that doesn’t allow leading zeroes.

4. Edit authority file - source = folio

Like existing editing functionality, users can only edit the Base URL, and the active “Status” for the folio authority files.

5. Create new authority file

In the second pane (mock #1), the “New” button will open the full page setting configuration, following the same pattern as mockup #3.
