20180219 SC&A WG Meeting Notes

FOLIO SC&A Working Group Zoom #4
February 19, 2018

Attending: Gregory Bailey (Texas A&M); Sebastian Hammer (Index Data); Peter Murray (Index Data); Aaron Trehub (Auburn University); Catherine Uecker (University of Chicago)
Regrets: Julia Kim (Library of Congress); Jeanine Nault (Library of Congress)

The meeting began at 2:00 PM Eastern/1:00 PM Central.

Agenda:

1. Review minutes from last week's call at https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=3051619. No changes.

2. Review additions to starter needs/functionalities list at https://folio-org.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=3047435. Aaron Trehub encouraged members to continue adding their ideas to the list and not to worry about categories too much.

3. Discuss draft e-mail to additional WG invitees. Aaron circulated a draft e-mail to the group before the call; Peter Murray submitted corrections, which Aaron incorporated into the final draft. The group divvied up the contacts, taking into account existing relationships, geographical proximity, or previous contacts. Aaron circulated the final list with contact assignments to the group after the call and encouraged the members to get in touch with their invitees in the next week or so.

4. Panel/informational session at WOLF-Con in May. The group agreed that it would be good to have an open informational session at the WOLF-Con meeting in Durham in May. We should have plenty to report by then. Sebastian Hammer said that a representative from Hermesz-SOFT in Hungary may be in attendance at WOLF-Con, so we may hear more about work on developing an SC&A module for the Hungarian National Library.

5. Other business. Members shared impressions from ALA Midwinter in Denver. There is a good deal of buzz around FOLIO, which the group hopes will translate into tangible involvement and support. On the question of recruiting prospective WG members in Europe, Catherine Uecker pointed out that the current call time—2:00 PM Eastern US—is not convenient for European participants. Peter said that this is an issue with some of the SIGs and that we can look at shifting the call time to 10:00 or 11:00 AM if necessary.

The call ended at 2:37 PM Eastern/1:37 PM Central. Next Zoom meeting automatically scheduled for Monday, February 26 at the same time.
