Defining record requirements

Next steps

Reach out to Charlotte Whitt , Cheryl Malmborg , Ian Ibbotson (Use this one) Sebastian Hammer to find a date to meet with this group to talk about the interaction of CDL and item states and circ rules in FOLIO

Jana will reach out to all to find a time and date to meet

  • Update:
    • 08/18 looks good for now
    • We extended an invite to MM SIG

Discussion topics/ questions for the group@allPlease list your questions/topics below

  • What does FOLIO need to provide technically for CDL to work?
    • let the item status display the serquestering
    • How CDL is represented in Inventory
    • Currently implemented item states
    • Charlotte: So this is a new item property?

      • And are you talking about an icon on the resultlist, Erin?

      • Or information on  the instance record?

    • The restricted Item Status was implemented for the CDL Workflow but currently does not work like required
      • This status is used in different scenarios as well
    • adding new actions and functions to circulation
    • Erin:

but ultimately whatever controls CDL functionality does have to be on the item because that's where the circulation controls are - on the item record

    • Intruducing a new item status is possible
  • Walk through the Scenarios (UChicago)
  • Comment (Sarah):

I think these scenarios David has presented are fantastic if the focus is on control of the physical item.  My concern is that Stanford would be interested in using FOLIO to also manage access (and the waitlist) for digital access.  So using FOLIO loan periods and hold functionality to help manage digital access.

    • Erin:

Sure, you could theoretically leverage the request app for that, sarah

  • Do we need an Item property and an item status the reflects the CDL activity
  • There needs a way to connect to the CDL Platform outside of FOLIO that gives the necessary requirements for lending
  • Mark C.: ReShare is working on CDL https://projectreshare.org/products/reshare-controlled-digital-lending/ (this group is aware and working closely with the group)
  • Peter in Chat:

There is some relationship between FOLIO CDL and ReShare CDL.  ReShare CDL would be _between_ libraries, while presumably FOLIO CDL would be a library digitally loaning its own items to its own patrons.

  • We relying on the ILS to give us the info of who has the CDL item and  for how long
  • Sarah: We also desire different loan periods dependent upon the the reason for digital access (course reserve, researcher request, eventually ReShare)

Meeting Notes

Update by Ian and Sebastian on the discussions relating to ReShare

Next Steps:

  • discussions with MM and Circ POs
  • collect and formalize Use cases
