Miscellaneous / Questions | Q by Sharon: Is the spreadsheet "Links to FOLIO Record Data Elements" the source of truth, this one https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B924D2JaFUc6dqgItyKoOFdhn36lxwT6jaYmKpyk2Ws/edit ? A: It's still called Beta. JSONs in the RAMLs are the source of truth. Charlotte created the spreadsheet for metadata elements (Instance, Holdings, Items). Tod has done the mapping for specfic ILS systems. Q: Shall we be dumping the data into MARCCat and let a machine map to Inventory ? How should the data go into Inventory ? A: The mapping facility is not yet fully functioning. Right now, we only have the capability to load (JSON data) directly into Inventory . Some have written some scripts for this, we ought to share them. But we should not spend too much time on that. Chalmers (way of migrating) is an exception. We expect we are eventually loading into MARCCat. MARC for Holdings is not coded, yet. | ||
10 | Face-to-face meeting | various | On Feb. 1, SysOps discussed what goals we felt we should have for the face-to-face meeting in late Spring / early Summer. One of the goals that was discussed as desirable was advancing the data loader project. I'd like to hear from our sub-group members what we feel needs to be addressed and how we can best facilitate those goals. Meeting Notes: Ingolf has put a line in the FOLIO working meeting 2019 spreadsheet . What can be done remotely ? Tod says, this is not compelling to have a f2f meeting. It is not specific enough. Patty suggests discussion (and making) user stories and feature sets with developers and other POs. Tod points out that we need to argue what will be the specific outcome of the f2f, what can not be accomplished online. It's about flight costs and tight meeting schedules. Many of the desired attendees will be in parallel meetings, the meeting schedule has to be made very carefully. Tod says, in contrast to the SysOps SIG, the data migration subgroup does not need a group f2f with all group members. The PO's job is to coordinate between SMEs, SIGs and developers. Patty says, we should be developing a handbook, a Wiki page. The key SMEs and key POs should meet. Patty says, we need to get all people in the room, but the room might be virtual. The real rooms will be overbooked. – The situation is different for the SysOps group. Tod: A couple of half-days would do. We could be more targeted with Cate, Jakub et.al. Ann-Marie: Half days could work, so long as we figure out who exactly needs to be there and then figure out days/times that would work. |
10 | Migrating ERMs | Ingolf | Ingolf would like to discuss sending a couple of our members to the ERM subgroup on Wednesday, Feb. 6, where they would like to discuss use cases both for migrating existing ERMs to Folio and for integrating Folio with their existing ERMs. Then, on Feb. 11, they should able to send someone back to the DM subgroup to continue the discussion. Meeting Notes: On Wednesday, Feb 6, there will be no time for a discussion. Just an announcement in the ERM subgroup will be made, that DM subgroup is looking for use cases for ERM data migration. In Germany, many things are exported from Exel sheets. In the U.S./Texas Coral is used. It needs to be discussed whether data are to be migrated out of coral or Coral is going to be integrated to Folio. The ERM SMEs will have to discusss these things. The discussion will not yet take place this week, and there will probably no results yet on Feb 11, our next DM meeting. Ingolf and Martina T. will do the announcment in the ERM SIG. The SIG meets on Wednesdays 8 EST. |
30 | Data loader user stories | Patty W. | Patty has suggested that she has some user stories to present for discussion following our discussion last week of the features which should be included in the data loader. Meeting Notes: Patty: Prioritization of the JIRA-tickets UXPROD-1499 to UXPROD-1509 is next. We don't have permissions. Send our prios to Patty. Kristin Martin has permissions in Chicago. Patty and Cate will meet about rankings Dale, Patty and Tod will meet this week. |
