No... I was saying that I don't think we want that. And, with the low-tech option you had mocked up (in which you just add the code to the institution name in parentheses), the code would need to display everywhere the institution name displays because it is just part of the name. This is a reason why we might not want to take that low-tech approach. Instead, I was suggesting there is a distinct field for collecting the code for each institution, campus, library. We can then decide where we want to display that code (e.g on the location create/edit page) and where we don't (location selection popup).

I guess you could also do it the low tech way (just add the preferred code in parentheses in the institution name)... I guess I was going down the path of a separate field because I was thinking about the future path of auto-generating the code. I guess it's also nice not to have the code in parentheses everywhere you display an institution name (like in the location lookup popup).
