Tasks 3.1 - 3.14: Add publication patterns of varying frequencies

The following tasks (listed at the end of this page) all have the same general pattern but require different values to be filled out to be completed. In order to understand how to setup publications of different frequencies you will need to read the documentation on Frequency of publication and Days of publication. In addition to setup the issue labelling you will need to read the documentation on You may also find it useful to follow the more detailed instructions in Task 2.1 and Task 2.2 first to get familiar with the process of setting up publication patterns.

The general pattern for each task is:

  1. Login to Snapshot or Snapshot-2 Folio with the username/password: acq-manager / acq-manager

  2. Navigate to the “Serials” application

  3. Create a New serial record with a description and status “Active” (you do not need to link a PO Line for this task, although if you would like to that is also not a problem)

  4. View the serial record and open the Publication pattern accordion and select Add publication pattern

  5. Setup a publication pattern as follows:

    1. Publication cycle that matches the Task you are carrying out (e.g. for task 3.1 you would set time unit = Year, Number of years = 1 and No issues per cycle to 1 reflecting one issue per year). See the documentation for more details

    2. Setup the “Days of publication, per cycle” as appropriate. See the documentation for more details

    3. Use the Add label button to add an appropriate Chronology style for the type of publication (there is no “correct” choice here, so feel free to experiment and try out different options). See documentation for more details

    4. Use the Add label button to an appropriate Enumeration style for the type of publication (there is no “correct” choice here, so feel free to experiment and try out different options). See documentation for more details

    5. Complete the template in a way that reflects how the published issues might be labelled (there is no “correct” choice here, so feel free to experiment and try out different options). See documentation for more details.

  6. Click “Preview”

  7. Choose an appropriate start date (this could be 1st of January but could be any date of your choosing) and click “Preview”

  8. The preview should show one years worth of issues starting on the date you specified with chronology and enumeration using the template you have specified

The chronology and enumeration and related template are probably the most complex aspect of setting up a serials prediction pattern so take a look at the documentation and feel free to ask for further clarification in the #serials Slack channel.
