Task 2.2: Add publication pattern with chronology and enumeration

The steps in this task are detailed and so can be followed without necessarily a full understanding of the functionality. However, you may wish to consult the documentation to get a fuller understanding of the steps involved.

  1. Login to Snapshot or Snapshot-2 Folio with the username/password: acq-manager / acq-manager

  2. Navigate to the “Serials” application

  3. Create a New serial record with a description and status “Active” (you do not need to link a PO Line for this task, although if you would like to that is also not a problem)

  4. View the serial record and open the Publication pattern accordion and select Add publication pattern

  5. Setup a publication pattern as follows:

    1. Publication cycle of 1 issue every 1 month and define which day of the month the publication happens using the Days of publication, per cycleDay format options

      1. Cycle length / Time unit = Month

      2. Cycle length / Number of months = 1

      3. No. of issues published per cycle = 1

      4. Days of publication, per cycle / Day format = Day (1-31)

      5. Issue 1 / Day = 1

    2. Use the Add label button to add a label with

      1. Label style = Chronology

      2. Chronology format = Chronology Month

      3. Month format = October

      4. Year format = 23

    3. Use the Add label button to add a label with

      1. Label style = Enumeration

      2. Enumeration format = Enumeration Numeric

      3. Level 1 (e.g. volume)

        1. No. of units = 1

        2. Format = Number

        3. Sequence = Continuous

      4. Level 2 (e.g. issue number)

        1. No. of units = 12

        2. Format = Number

        3. Sequence = Reset

    4. Complete the template with the text Vol. {{enumeration1.level1}} Issue {{enumeration1.level2}}, {{chronology1.month}} {{chronology1.year}}

  6. Click “Preview”

  7. Choose an appropriate start date (this could be 1st of January but could be any date of your choosing) and set the “Values to use for the first issue to an appropriate first volume (Level 1) and first issue (Level 2) numbering

  8. The preview should show one years worth of issues starting on the date you specified (this will be 12 issues) . Each issue should be listed with a publication date and a display label in the form Vol. 1 Issue 1, January 24

You may wish to try different values for the “Format” options for Level 1 / Level 2 enumeration to see how this changes the outcome at the Preview step.
