Resource Management SIG Evaluation (follow up from Product Council discussion)

Please think about:

  • Are satisfied with how work under Resource Management is going? If not what could be done differently?
  • Is the size and scope of the SIG acceptable or too big?
  • How is the sub-group structure working out?
  • Do you feel comfortable/knowledgeable to be able to speak out and contribute?
  • Do you feel like you have the resources you need to contribute?
  • Are the time commitments appropriate?
  • Are the venues for discussion adequate?
  • Do we need more governance?
  • Other thoughts or concerns
All
    • Are you satisfied with how work under Resource Management is going? If not what could be done differently?

    -       Problem with most participants being mute in the weekly SIG meetings

    -       Most participation comes from EBSCO colleagues

    • Is the size and scope of the SIG acceptable or too big?

    -       SIG is not too big for presentations and to keep a more general overview about what is going on in the different sub groups. The big group makes communication between the different SIGs easier because of the overlaps.

    • How is the sub-group structure working out?

    -       The approach is working out ok

    -       A list of the subgroups+members and the scope of the group is missing

    -       This list should include the planned sub groups as well and links to all the discuss posts and a general development schedule for the RM SIG

    -       An overview about the commercial development groups and their scope would be helpful

    -       E-Acquisitions needs to stay within the Acquisition subgroup to make sure we do not develop two systems in the end

    • Do you feel comfortable/knowledgeable to be able to speak out and contribute?

    -       No negative comments when this question was asked

    -       The multichannel approach is useful

    • Are the time commitments appropriate?

    -       Since all SIG members added the FOLIO workload to their regular tasks the time commitment is tough. Especially, if one wants to scan all communication channels and provide thoughtful contributions in addition to the meetings.

    • Other thoughts or concerns

    -       The tension to push the project ahead sometime does not leave enough time for everybody to go through the drafts and contribute.

    -       The developers approach is to get working code out as fast as possible. If this is accomplished it is easier to discuss the interface and the functionality on a less abstract level

    -       KualiOLE ran into trouble with this approach because important features could not be added anymore. -> FOLIO’s modular design should prevent these issues

    -       The SIG can provide and has provided course corrections. Everybody is encouraged to speak up if something is being developed in the wrong direction

Acquisitions Sub-group presentation, update on vendors. Background:

Acquisitions Sub-group

A funds subgroup has formed. This will be the next task for stacks after working on the vendor app.

 Presentation of the vendor screen:

 -       Notes left in discuss will be included in the screen until next meeting

-       A relationship system between different vendor records might be useful for Merged vendors or Publisher imprints; relationships will be important for licenses + entitlements

-       Will there be more than one application in Folio to store Vendor related data or is this the vendor app the only place?

-       Vendor contacts should be linked to the general contacts app

-       Categories in the dropdown need to be adjustable for each institution

 ToDosAll

-          Look at the Special Acquisition Events Discuss post and add your ideas

-          Comment on the vendor screen in Discuss

-          Look at the Acquisition module documentation in the wiki
