Today's Note taker - Tania

  • Low attendance today so David, Ricky and Tania reviewed the Request Queue changes proposed at the all-SIG meeting on 3/15, and looked over the proposed Request Cancel Reasons admin mockups.
  • Discussed the concept of having two descriptions - one internal for staff, one that would display to the patron (e.g. when they cancelled a request via a discovery layer, or appear on a notification when staff canceled their request). Tania will adjust the mockups for next Wednesday to reflect this idea.
  • Discussed whether the Notes feature, when it is integrated with Requests, might have a distinction between a note that displays only to staff and a note that displays to the patron/public and might be able to be included on a notification - the use case for this would be that staff need to elaborate on one of the defined non-free-text cancellation reasons when they manually cancel a request. Assumption is that this would be a rare occurrence since libraries would craft their cancellation reasons so that they cover common reasons well, and can use Other (free text) for any that don't fall into a canned reason.
  • David offered to talk with the ILLiad people at his institution about how they work with cancel reasons
