Notes

Introduction of Kimie (pronounced “Keeme”) from Ebsco who has taken over from Matt as a UI designer for the RA Sig (among other things I would imagine) working with Filip, Cate and Holly.

Filip: Discussion of whether an app that the user does not have permission for should be greyed out or not visible.  The SIG felt that in circ, it would be good to have the casual worker know that an action could be possible, even if they themselves cannot do it, from a public services standpoint.  Joanne, William and Andrea will supply examples to Filip.

Holly: Charge Manual Fee

  • Barcode will have the item search and select function, as would patron name
  • In addition to title, barcode and call number, we would like location, patron name and barcode
  •  Would like a way to associate charge with patron as well as particular copy of item
  • General agreement that the more information on the bill the better
  • Would not be necessary to make title link on this screen
  • “Fee Owner” is the preferred term
  • Charging has 3 options
    • Charge
    • Charge and pay now
    • Cancel
    • There will not be a way to charge non patron in v1, but there could be a workaround (create patron type for that purpose)
    • It is nice to be able to copy fee/fines details but is there a way to make a universal change rather than have to edit them all?  We will let the developers figure this out!
    • Agreed on terminology of “open” and “closed” for bills
    • There is a need to be able to move a bill from closed to open (credit card declined, bursar rejects)

Open Loan Screen:

  • Click on amount to see fines/fees detail page
  • Would like the drop down list to include “charge fee”
  • Aleph lets you see a fine amount but most systems do not calculate this unless item returned.  It would be very nice to be able to see the rolling fine.  This will be in parking lot
  • Open Loan Screen and Closed Loan Screen will operate the same
  • Keeping closed loan history is needed even if institution does not keep overall loan history
  • Where does this closed loan history belong?  A consensus that it would be cleaner if it were kept in a separate table, even if that mean duplication of data

Closed loan data:

  • Need to be flexible for each institution
    • Keep none unless fine/fee associated with it
    • Only until item is checked out again
    • Only for a specified amount of time
    • User opt in/out option

Parking Lot page has been set up on our SIG so we do not lose track of issues we are not immediately attending to.
