Development progress update

@Owen Stephens

  • we are in sprint 200

  • working on speeding up ingest from GOKb

  • e.g. improvements on ingesting coverage, which took a long time and is now speeded up

  • bugfixing

  • Felix in chat: Do we have to re-harvest GOKb in order to get the full coverage for all data in the local KB?

    • libraries would either need to re-harvest or update the relevant packages in GOKb to trigger an update

    • Martina: for GBV libraries the re-harvest will be done by VZG as part of the update

  • Block save on invalid date

  • Working on ‘support for documents on AGLs’

    • should be in Ramsons

    • Zorian: what is the use case for doing this in AGL instead of in agreement

      • an agreements can be for multiple resources and can have multiple AGLs; links and files may relate only to one of the AGLs

      • Sara in chat: “Zorian: Because I may have more than one AGL under one AG, and the Supp Doc only applies to one of the AGLs etc”

      • Felix in chat: “You could store a KBART file representing the content of the package linked as AGRLine as supp doc at AGRLine level.”

      • Susanne: “Or for Pick & Choose. You have one Agreement for the supplier and can link the Inventory to the AL”

      • Sara in chat: “It is a direct link to Inventory, like when you do not have an Order, and also important that you can link one (AGL) to many records in Inventory (the link being a search in Inventory).”

  • Felix in chat: Maybe related to what Owen said: Has it been discussed if linking licences or amendments to only some AGRLines instead of the whole Agreement?

    • Owen: this has been raised, but we did not discuss recently and it would be challenging

      • it is a fundamental break with the current design

      • an agreement has a formal definition: it is a set of resources under the same license; that’s why the agreement is linked, not the AGL

    • Zorian in chat: I tend to tell libraries its what content is entitled in the license

ERM Workflows

@Owen Stephens

  • Notes here:

  • How do libraries get notified about a title leaving a package?

    • Martina: publisher notifies via a new title list, new title list will be uploaded to GOKb, so titles will be displayed as dropped in Local KB, but that happens silently

      • libraries can compare new and old title list

  • In chat:

    • Zorian Sasyk | EBSCO FOLIO Implementation 14:35
      KB notifications

      Sara Colglazier  an  Alle 14:36
The Publisher sends out notices, or Jobber (like EBSCO), etc

      Margaret Youngberg  an  Alle 14:36
I often find out after the fact that a title is removed -- yes, exactly as Martina is describing

      Sara Colglazier  an  Alle 14:36
      So I keep a spreadsheet ...

Zorian Sasyk | EBSCO FOLIO Implementation  an  Alle 14:38
Like a daily or weekly cron job type process that compares the diff for added, updated, removed titles

      Lars-Håkan Herbertsson  an  Alle 14:38
sorry ,  need to leave early

      Becca Banach  an  Alle 14:39
We do a lot of this tracking in spreadsheets and email folders, too, but it is imperfect.

      Sara Colglazier  an  Alle 14:41
Harrassowitz and EBSCO request us to review end of August/ beginning of Sept every year, so there is that time delay then between having done that and the reality taking effect

      Sara Colglazier  an  Alle 14:44
Yes! The need to check back again--also for SIs etc

      Sara Colglazier  an  Alle 14:46
Just for title leaving or has_SI etc, I tried Tags, but it did not work out …. I need something that pushes  to me ;-)

      Martina Schildt  an  Alle 14:47
That is similar to the use case: E-resources to be catalogued

Chat

Hi, here is the Agenda for today:
14:01:31 Von Tracy Macpherson an Alle:
Hi All, I'm new to ERM and joining the SIG just to learn. I hope that's ok and you don't mind if I lurk!
14:09:26 Von Felix Hemme an Alle:
Do we have to re-harvest GOKb in order to get the full coverage for all data in the local KB?
14:10:45 Von Felix Hemme an Alle:
Replying to "Do we have to re-har..."

Thanks for taking this on!

14:10:51 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
Replying to "Do we have to re-har..."

For GBV libraries this is done by VZG.

You could store a KBART file representing the content of the package linked as AGRLine as supp doc at AGRLine level.

ah that makes sens!

14:22:26 Von Susanne Gill (BVB) an Alle:
Or for Pick & Choose. You have one Agreement for the supplier and can link the Inventory to the AL
14:24:44 Von Sara Colglazier an Alle:
It is a direct link to Inventory, like when you do not have an Order, and also important that you can link one (AGL) to many records in Inventory (the link being a search in Inventory).
14:25:17 Von Susanne Gill (BVB) an Alle:
Reacted to "It is a direct link ..." with 👍
14:26:15 Von Felix Hemme an Alle:
Maybe related to what Owen said: Has it been discussed if linking licences or amendments to only some AGRLines instead of the whole Agreement would be possible?
14:27:02 Von Felix Hemme an Alle:
But that sounds like a large topic
14:28:29 Von Zorian Sasyk | EBSCO FOLIO Implementation an Alle:
I tend to tell libraries its what content is entitled in the license

We do a lot of this tracking in spreadsheets and email folders, too, but it is imperfect.
14:39:33 Von Martina Schildt | VZG an Alle:
Reacted to "We do a lot of this ..." with 👍
14:41:11 Von Sara Colglazier an Alle:
Harrassowitz and EBSCO request us to review end of August/ beginning of Sept every year, so there is that time delay then between having done that and the reality taking effect
