Agenda

  • Housekeeping
  • IMPORTING RECORDS IN FOLIO
    • Connexion demo? (Michelle: video demo from Stanford, Lotus release, start at 16:00 with pull method, overlay; 19:43 pull method, new record; 21:52 push method; end 24:33)
    •  Connexion
      • Are other libraries experiencing issues with Connexion? (Bob)
        • Here are the issues Stanford is experiencing (as of Lotus):
          • The Connexion browser (i.e., web version of Connexion) can only export fields that are in Latin script. So, staff who are involved in our non-Latin script workflows cannot use this web app for their export needs
          • The WorldShare Metadata Manager cannot export MARC records via a TCP/IP connection at all (at least in the case when the target is a FOLIO system). We opened an OCLC support ticket on this issue on 10/30/2022 and have provided a lot of information to them for troubleshooting but so far no solution has been provided. Last communication on this ticket was 11/29/2022 with this message: "to let you know that I've passed your information on to the Record Manager team. I'll let you know when I hear back from them on this"
          • The push method (i.e., export from an OCLC app via TCP/IP) cannot overlay an existing record in Folio, only create a new record
          • The pull method (i.e., import to Folio via a Z39.50 connection) can only get the OCLC master record, unlike the push method, where you can edit the record (e.g., add a local field) before export. And the pull method cannot get records from the OCLC online save file.
          • Export from the Connexion Client (a Windows app) does not include $0 for headings in bib records that are linked to an authority record (the $0 contains the URI of the authority record). The Record Manager can export the $0, but as noted above, it doesn't work
      • Are other libraries using the Connexion web client? (Bob)
      • If Connexion isn't working, what do you do? (Bob)
    • Single Record Import
      • How does single record import work for multiple libraries sharing a tenant? (Tara)
    • Other options? Record Manager?
  • Closing
    • Any actions or follow through?
